Are you talking about the
quality of the food, not the price. In my bad list, I would put lidl, quik save, somerfield, aldi and tesco and in my good list, in order (apart from the big ones like Harrods and those posh ones) Marks and Spencer, Waitrose, Sainsbury's (not a nice place to work, though) Asda, Morrison's. My favourite supermarket is Asda because it is a great place to shop, it is friendly and the prices are good...(and a good place to work!) I shop for the odd things when entertaining in M&S, but I love supermaket shopping and the ambiance does make a difference... You probably have realised, I have worked for Sainsbury's and Asda... there is no contest. Asda have little get togethers with staff to inform about new products and say what you think about the work, Sainsbury's however beleive all the staff are thieves... and have bag searches, well they did when I worked there!
These days, I use the supermarkets for things like drinks and cans and stuff like that, but you must get your Meat and Veg from your local shop, Butcher, Greengrocer, use them or lose them... their produce comes from just round the corner, if you are not sure, ask!!

Waitrose
Marks and Spencer food
Sainsburys
Morrisons
Tesco
Asda
Somerfield
Co-Op
Lidl
Aldi
Iceland
Netto
Farmstores
Spar
Londis
Tesco, Asda and Morrisons are all about the same though. Asda probably the cheapest pound for pound, maybe Morrisons as well. I find the same shop in Tesco's more expensive, unless you buy all the cheap crap. Oh, and I've listed them from most upmarket to most downmarket.
Personally I'm happy to get my groceries from either Morrisons or Asda. Like I say, reasonable prices and the quality is good too. Morrisons are the best for the quality of their fresh fruit and veg, the Co-Op I find are the worst.
