This is for those people who believe in magic.

If you believe in magic, do you think it's possible that Jesus was some sort of powerful magician or something that cast a spell, to save our souls? Could he have done some sort of self sacrifice magic?

What's the difference between the stuff you hear about in the Bible and magic?

I do believe in magic, and I am very reluctant to describe what Jesus (supposedly) did was "magic" for a variety of reasons. One, the miracles of the Bible are generally beyond what one can accomplish with magic.

Second, there's no evidence that Jesus or his followers called it magic, and suggesting that I know what he was doing better than he knew seems a wee bit egotistical on my part.

Third, even if Jesus did walk on water and multiply fish, the act of saving souls is something well outside the realm of magic, IMHO. That's something that exists in an entirely religious context. (How do you quantify the difference between a saved soul and an unsaved one other than "Jesus saved it"?)

Magic is something that comes from the wielder. It's an exercise of will, a command over natural forces. Miracles are things that come from God. They ultimately occur because God wills it, not because a mortal wills it, although the mortal may request it (but God certainly isn't compelled to reply!)

First off. I am a pagan and I do not believe in magic. at least not the David Copperfield, pull a bunny out of a rabbit, make the statue of Liberty disappear kind. or even the Hollywood. poof bang something is done kind. I believe there was a man named Jesus. I believe that he was a great man who tried to teach kindness, love, and understanding to all of his followers. I believe that the poor mans message was lost due to all the idiots that decided to add to what he said and did. I also believe there was a 14 year old named Joseph smith. I believe he ran away from home. I believe he got scared and went running back. But he did not want to get in trouble for running away so he made up a story that god spoke to him. this is how the Mormon religion got started. which one is more correct? Charles Manson believed he was god's son as well. He believed he was Jesus reincarnate. Was he any more correct?

I do believe he knew how to do magic. healing he understood had to be believed by the person that was to be healed. I don't think he used magic on the souls as I think that it's not necessary for him to save us. I don't believe that's what it's about.

I don't believe there is any difference in the magic in the bible or natural magic. If he did save souls that would have fallen under a Shaman's territory. They go and retrieve souls and soul pieces.

The questions you've asked are why I don't believe in the bible though. It was twisted to mean what people needed it to mean. I do believe that Jesus existed and he was a spiritual master. He did learn magic and learned from many many different religions.

The source.

God Divinely gave Jesus the power to overcome death.

Jesus did not use spells. He, according to the bible, did not condone witchcraft, and when he was casting out demon, responded to accusations of being aligned with the demons, replied that basically the accusation didn't make sense. If he was a in alignment with demons, he would not be vanquishing them, but supporting them.

I absolutely believe in magic. I believe there are Spiritual laws, universal laws of the magical sort. These principals exist in the world and they can absolutely be tapped into by many doors, magic arts, drugs, meditation, and many other 'ways'.

I have come to see the power in faith as the purest form ....coming straight from God when needed and not of my strength or workings....just freely open to God....oh the things I've seen !

I have played with MANY spiritual paths.....God is the purest most Holy source, above all, ....though many paths produce incredible powers and manifestations.

There are five types of people:

-those blind to spiritual existence at all
-aware of spirit realm but afraid and closed
-those who use the principles to selfish ends
-those who are impartial
-those who seek God

Your terms and the use of them are a starting point...things are not that black and white.....it really is about a person's heart....LOVE is the WAY!

No one has ever been able to break the laws of nature using magic. Magic is about internal change.

Ergo, if Jesus existed, and if the explanation is magic, then either the accounts in the Bible are highly fabricated or borrowed from other mythos. (Or both.)

However, if you throw, "Oh, he was a God" in the mix, then you can say anything is possible. Since divine intervention is a convenient plot device.

I dont see how a 'Jesus' or a 'God' could tell loads of stories, and how they could be written down donkeys years later. I dont see how he could turn water into wine or walk on water or heal.

But Paul McKenna can do hypnosis, which is sort of a type of magic. 'Magic' can mean different things.

But to save going into it too much - no. I dont think magic and the bible are related

b/c thoes are false statements pagans do not worship or believe in the devil thats a christian belief do Wiccans and Pagans fly around on broom sticks, shoot lightning from their fingers, combat demons, or sacrifice animals and/or babies? Again, no. Many of these beliefs stem from old superstitions, reinforced by Hollywood. Others confuse Wicca and Paganism with Satanism, vampirism, and other occult belief systems that are totally unrelated. These are all things that Wiccans and Pagans are not..Thats what i REALLY dislike...Sterotypes cant they see that we got damaged enough in the 1600s by being hanged burned and drowned by ignorant people that think we are the devils servants we dont even believe in the devil oh well...

Many Pagans will acknowledge Jesus as Divine or Semi-Divine. This would not negate the possiblity of His performing miracles which would therefore not be "magical" in the commonly accepted definition of that term.

The one MAJOR differance between the Biblical account and "magic" is that miracles are Divinely performed and magic is not. HOWEVER, Pagans acknowledge that Jesus was not the only one performing miracles. This is something that Christians will not do.

Atheists do not believe in ANY miraculous events.

I find it funny as to how many Christians and Atheists answered this one without letting a Pagan or Wiccan speak.

And she clearly outlined "For those people who believe in magic..."

Where are peoples manners these days?

I don't know about "magic" but I do believe he was likely an energy healer, a shaman and an enlightened being.
