I'm not anywhere close to where I want to be, but I've been using weight watchers and doing well.
I lost 10lbs with them last year and kept it off, but now I want to do more so I've rejoined. Lost 7lbs so far in 3 weeks.

Yes. First of all it wasn't easy. I quit smoking about three years ago and in the first two years I went from 6' 185 pounds to 235 pounds. I got myself on a good diet plan. I found a calorie calculator and found out the exact number of calories I should be eating in a day to lose fat and not muscle mass. A calculator can be found here:
http://www.muscleandstrength.com/tools/bmr-and-daily-calorie-calculator.html
I cut this number by 500 calories. The calories consisted of 30% Proteins, 50% Carbs and 20% fats. Then I needed a workout plan.
The workout plan is something I changed a lot. I do a cutting routine now. It is:
Upper Body on Monday
Cardio on Tuesday
Lower Body on Wed
Cardio on Thurs
Upper Body on Fri
Cardio on Saturday
Sunday I usually do lower body but you can use this as an off day.
The main key is to keep your heart rate up. Only rest for 1 minute in between sets and include a few supersets. You should work out each part of the upper and lower body.
Upper:
Shoulders, Back, Triceps, Biceps, Chest
Lower:
Calves, Quads, Hamstrings
The hardest part I found was eating right. I eat the same things over and over. With maybe salmon getting substituted for Chicken once or twice a week.
I went down to 182 pounds in about a year. I started bulking (adding muscle) and put on 10 pounds of lean muscle. So I am pretty solid now and I cannot say it was easy.

Before I had my daughter I lost 96 lbs in 10 months. I worked really hard at changing my diet and exercising 6 days a week. I cut out soda and that helped me lose weight quicker. If I had a soda it would be every blue moon when I went out with friends somewhere (and it would be diet). At first it was a struggle but after a few months it just became a new way of life for me.
Ok, after my daughter I started taking a medicine that made me gain 60 lbs in 3 months. It was horrible. I have sense put the rest of the weight back on too. I am now off of that medication and have recently started getting back in the mindset to lose this weight again.
I felt soooooo much better when I lost the weight. It really is a challenge but it is worth it in the end. I just want you to know it is possible to lose the weight it just takes time, patience, and motivation.
edited- ezwider is right.... sparkpeople.com is a great website for losing weight. So is Dr. Phils book.

Lost 40 pounds, have kept them off over 5 years.
You set a goal in pounds, divide it between 2.5-3 pounds a week and settle the first goal, a month. You do not think about the rest, just those 10-12 pounds. As they come off, you start noticing it gets easier to stick with a healthy eating regime, so you continue for another month, and so on.
You accept you have a problem that needs to be solved, and you take the challenge knowing you will fall and will have to stand again. You start loving yourself a little more every day, and start accepting yourself in a different way, so you persevere.
Don´t make drastic changes that you will not stick to, but rather do small, significant changes. Don´t eat anything that your body won´t need, be firm. Start loving water. Compromise, you want a chocolate bar? Eat a miniature and enjoy it. Do you have a party and know you will eat? Fine, eat and go on with your diet the next day. Picture your body turning into what you eat...like which one you want to be? A soft, white, flabby slice of white bread or a firm, tight slice of wheat toast?
And remember, a body that doesn't move, doesn´t produce energy, it won't burn calories as efficiently. Keep active, walk, dance, take the stairs, swim, do bicycle....eventually you will find an activity you love and it will help you remain focused, healthy and slim.

Discipline is the key to any diet or exercise regimen. The best diets that work for me are those that prompt you to eat 5 or 6 small meals a day - to keep your metabolism running. Of course, at the sight of a 6-meal day, people cringe and think they'll never lose weight eating that much. I recommend a book called "The Cellulite Solution" yea, it's targeted for cellulite reduction - who would mind that? But it also gives you a sample diet that you can follow for two weeks. It also involves cardio and specific butt exercises - but you can add as many as you want if you have other problem areas.
My regimen is plenty of water, vitamins, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack all before 9pm. I give myself treats - like a day where I can eat anything I want (at least once a week). I also try to buy groceries as opposed to depend on a restaurant to make my food - if you're not much of a cook there are several examples of healthy, quick meals you can make that will fit your budget, schedule, and diet expectations. Don't be so hard on yourself either - you have to been discplined, AND patient. The results will come - love the body you are in and continually envision the body you want, and I promise you'll get there. Remeber, most importantly, your success is in your hands (and mouth). Good luck!

I tried tons of thing to lose weight and keep it off. With some I lost weight but it always came back. 5 months ago I did a nutritional cleanse and bam! I lost 33 lbs in a very short period of time. Modern science found out that toxins are linked to obesity. Wow! Who new? I've kept it off ever since and am now implementing an exercise program to get my muscles in to shape and toned.

i have lost 100+ pounds in the last 9 months. It took so much that it is almost impossible to tell it all here. It was a complete life make over. From dealing with the past to how I deal with the present. It is so much more than just what food you eat or the amount of excersise you get. YOur whole life has to change.

Yes.I achieved it through a vegetable/fruit diet as I am a piscatarean who was once only lacto-ovo vegetarian.I kept a journal of what I ate and my activities.I ate oatmeal for breakfast or cereal with lots of fibre, yogurt, soy milk, fresh fruits; and I jogged/wogged 5 days a week for one mile.I was size 18-22 and dropped to 165lb and size 10/12 in 3 months.I needed to pass PE in college.Although I got only a C,i was happy because I was healthier and had more choice with fashion.set your goals and design a program for life.

i have, unfortunately i gained a lot of it back due to some stresses in my life, but the way i did it was counting calories. i still ate junk food and stuff but i counted every frickin' calorie that went into my mouth. at my most extreme point iwas eating 500 cal/day, but more often i was eating 1000 cal/day.
