I would not presume to advise God what to do in these cases. I don't think she would listen to my advice anyways.

but the Gospels make mention several times of a "outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." this suggests to me being shunned by God, living in the absence of our creator, and having a self-knowlege of how and where and when a person has failed to do right. I do not believe in a firey pool of lave where little demon technicians with horns and pitchforks and pointy tails torment sinners for eternity. Actually, the disappointment of a loving God and a banishment to the outer darkness is plenty frightening enough for me.

God has created, is running, and will destroy the Universe. God is the Origin and Destination of the Universe. God was, is, will be everywhere, God was never Created and will never die / be destroyed. God is beyond Life and Death. All religions of world teach human way to get close to God. You give your Best, God will give thy Best. Ask God for help and forgive, God will help and forgive you. Pray; Worship and Thank God for everything. Remember wherever there is Happiness in Life, there will be Sorrow. To get Happiness, you must master Sorrow. For Success in Life; Believe in Self and God, Learn from Past, Concentrate in Present, Plan for Future. Have control on, be the master of, not the slave of your body, senses, and mind. Purpose of this Life is to Gain and Share utmost Knowledge and Experience to differentiate and choose Right, Good, God against Wrong, Bad, Devil. Set your Desire level perfect or OK to be brave, no low to be coward, no high to be cruel. You have rights of Survival, Self Defence, and Freedom.

Rev 20:10-15
10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
(KJV)

Rev 21:8
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
(KJV)

Whew! Loaded question! I don't know why I feel the need to try to answer this stuff, but I do. With this one, I'm going to begin very carefully.
If you are a person who believes in God (and the tone of your question makes it seem that way) then you should realize that it is not up to humans to choose what God should do, nor is it likely that a limited human mind can entirely understand the unlimited mind of Almighty God. Therefore, we are cautioned by God's Word not to judge one another because we do not see with God's eyes and we do not know the souls of our fellow humans or whether they are good or evil. It is enough for us to try to know OUR OWN souls and for ME to know what is God's will for ME.
In any event, the condemnation of human souls to eternal punishment is not the privilege of ANY HUMAN--it is God's right ALONE.
Respectfully, the tendency of religious people to judge others is killing religion--NOW. TODAY.
The future of religion is in your hands. The souls of other people are in God's hands or in their own hands, but not in yours.

We already know what God does, as He is love and His Heavenly kingdom is the place of perfect and eternal love those who reject this by a life of selfishness and sin do not belong there, by rejecting God the soul knows full well where it belongs and that is that place where love is absent and hatred abides.

Biblically a soul and a physical body are nothing without each other. -Tis a very Greek view that they can be separated. What if God just take the evil out of every person...and they are left with only their good. If someone decided to be predominantly evil they wouldn't be left with much...

I'm rambling because I'm now using yahoo answers as a way to escape my very domestic duty of laundry-folding.

Such souls are destined for Hell forever and ever. Rejecting Him is not a pardonable offence and associating another one with Him is the worst of all the sins.

God has made every provision for the salvation of mankind.
It is up to each person to make a decision .
Eternal life with God
Or judgement.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Christ died for them too. He attoned for their sins too. In fact He went to Spirit Prision between death and resurrection to open up the missionary work to teach those that were lost.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
19 By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

Those souls should be allowed the opportunity to live again, and make different choices. We as a society say that people should be given second chances, so why should God be less understanding?
And, as Jesus said, we must be 'born again'.
