I brush my teeth and do my general hygiene in the bathroom sink. However, if I'm preparing a meal, I will additionally wash my hands in the kitchen sink to avoid cross contamination of the foods being prepared. Studies have shown that there is the greatest concentration of bacteria and viruses on doorknobs and other places that hands will touch on the way from the bathroom to the kitchen, so it's ALWAY recommended to wash your hands AT the kitchen sink, when making meals.

Mu husband says it's because the kitchen counters are higher, and it's therefore more comfortable. A bathroom countertop is usually 30 inches high, and a kitchen counter top is usually 36 inches. Taller people would be more comfortable at a higher sink - they don't have to bend over as much.

Most men tend to be taller than women and have bigger hands. Since most kitchen sinks are set higher and are larger and deeper than bath vanities, it makes sense to me to use them. And like the other answers said, we women tend to hog the bathroom -- can you blame a guy for sticking to the kitchen sink? And who cares, anyway? It's all the same water.

For the same reason that women see more colors than men. We tend to focus on things that matter. For (hetero) men, there is no puce, mauve or Fuchsia--only purple.

Rejoice in the fact that we use the sink for personal hygeine. At least we're doing something about personal hygeine--in the broader, not feminine hygeine sense.

Besides, it's the best way to get us to do the dishes.

I guess it is the layout of the house. In our house the kitchen sink is closest to the toilet, the bathroom is at the other end of the house.
I don't think it is just men though.

Isn't that where things are cleaned? How many other purposes are there for the kitchen sink?
As men, we think in terms of function not etiquette.

It doesn't matter and my mom taught us to wash our hands before we sat down to eat and the nearest sink is the kitchen.

A sink is a sink get over it.

I use the bathroom sink, but if the kitchen sink is closer then I will use that. We are lazy, I guess.

Sink is bigger. Soap is stronger and works better. Don't need to worry about getting the bathroom dirty or using soap that is not supposed to be used. Also way more convenient when coming in from outside.
