Ok, Sorry I forgot the sizes of bullets earlier, what I meant was a 9 mm. Or a typical hand gun bullet, sorry that it doesn't match the question, :-(
thanks for your answeres though so far.

WOW, a 23 mm bullet! Thats frikken huge!!!!

That bullet would be almost an inch wide. Do you perhaps mean a .223 caliber bullet?

If so, then Hornady makes a 40 grain V match that gets about 3610 FPS Which is a pretty hot load for that grain weight.

On average grain wieghts go from 40 to 90 for the .223 and selection will dramatically impact Feet Per Second or speed.

To correctly answer your question we would need to know the grain weight, but I would GUESS that about 3200 FPS would be average unless you are some wildcat reloader.

That size bullet is made for aircraft cannons and travel at several different speeds, because some are self propelled like a rocket. If you're speaking of a .23 caliber rifle, it would depend on the type of cartridge. If in an extremely large cartridge you possibility get it up to 4000 fps. A .220 swift travels about 4250 fps.

I can't answer this question as there is no known 23 mm bullet made. Although if there was one it would go just as fast and it would take for it to fall from gravety. Because there is no 23mm guns to shoot it in.

That's not a normal bullet. The muzzle velocity is 690-1000 m/s depending on a cannon, lol.

A full description of the 23 mm SP antiaircraft gun can be found here, but ballistics are lacking:

Aparrently there are several 23 mms in use. Here is one the lists muzzle velocity at 930 m/s:

Okay, a .9mm pistol bullet can go anywhere from just under 1,000 fps to about 1,500 fps depending on the load and barrel length of your pistol.

a .23mm would actually be classified as a cannon as that translates to .92 caliber!

Best.

If you are talking about a .22.A .22-250 can leave the muzzle at 6500 feet per second if hand loaded.Factory rounds would shoot at about 5000.
