A woman is pregnant, then diagnosed with cancer.
Cancer treatment has a very high liklihood of killing or harming the baby, but without it she will most certainly die either during child birth, or within a few months.
Does it make a difference if her life expectancy is shortened to before the child is born/can be successfully removed?

Will the cancer treatment cure the cancer? If there is a high likelihood, then I'd say the mother's life takes precedence. (at least if it was my wife.) If not, then I'd say save the life that can be saved and forego the treatment.

Curious though....why is this a question for christians?

I think this is a very personal and hard decision for the woman to make and whatever she decides is perfectly acceptable and up to her, her husband and her God.

There are cases when a mothers life is in danger that she does have to decide which life is more important to her. If she has other children to think of, esp younger kids, I would probably make sure my life was saved over that of the unborn child.

A woman I went to high school with went through this. She declined treatment in order to preserve the life of her baby. God granted her two years after the birth of her beloved girl before she died. Her sacrifice and love are an inspiration.

Well yes, of course it makes a difference. But no one can say what "should" be done in this situation except for God, so if the mother prays and honestly seeks his will in her situation then she should have nothing to fear.

I would say it depends on the person, personaly I would take the chance, I would rather die myself, then my child.
