I mean, basically they took a sci-fi novel, and made it their whole life, much like a star trek geek does....
(not that all religions aren't really the same)

Actually, Scientology is not based on a book. L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the religion, was a science fiction writer though. He was famously quoted as saying "Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion." (Reader's Digest, May, 1980)
He was also an occultist and compatriot of Alister Crowely.
I could go on and on about this subject... Theitans, Zenu the galactic overlord... ridonculous.
Some Famous Scientologists: Beck, Tom Cruise, John Travolta

yes, its just another cult, along with mormons, jehovahs, moonies, etc. Tey are all "religions". Forget religions and concentrate on the only real way to Heaven and that is through believing that Jesus Christ died for you and went to hell in your place so that you would not have to pay the price for your sins. He has offered you a free ticket to Heaven and all you have to do is ask him to come into your life, he promises that anyone who earnestly desires to know him will not be turned away. SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!
