This is what an artistic professional tattoo artist does - they customize any reference work you bring in to them.

Much has to do with size and area of placement. Go to the best you can find - it is worth it - it's a lifetime investment.

It's hard to come up with something off the internet, and I'm pretty sure that the tattoo shop you chose has a computer so maybe you could go to them pull up there and then you just give them your ideas on tweaking it. I know that any artist when given the opportunity to have fun with something or customize it using their skills. So just do that it should be ok.

You should get whatever you want. I personally think that the word Love may be a bit ovedone, so maybe getting it another language will help you seem more cultured and will take it from a tattoo some may call cheesy or stupid to something classy. I would suggest a romantic language, such as French. "L'amour" or "L'Amour" or simply "Amour" would look nice. (Those are all French, the first two have simply have the article with it, and the third does not)
