First may I say, "Hi Sandy!" It's good to see you again! What a wonderful thought provoking question. I have never been able to settle for the 'status-quo' of christianity. Once I became aware of the possibility of having a relationship with God, I pestered Him until I knew, without a shadow of a doubt, I had one!!! One night after spendin' my usual time with Him, I turned off the light and 'thought' I was goin' to sleep... Until He nudged me to look in His word again. He wanted to show me something. Had me turn to the book of Revelation, chapter 12. As I read it He revealed something so profound to me that I had never seen before. Told me 'Who' the woman was that is mentioned in there. I was so amazed, humbled, and blessed. The next day I shared this with a friend. Her response was not so receptive. Made me feel as though I must have made it up or something. Well, I decided to ask God for confirmation in His Word to clear up any potential deception. I shut myself in my room, got up on my bed, said a simple prayer, then opened The Word..... It was the most amazingly personal experience I have ever had in His word! The Holy Spirit directed me to turn to places in His word from Genisis to Revelation. Each time I got to the page, my eyes would be drawn to a specific passage that revealed and supported the revelation of the 'woman', I was given the night before.! It was as if my Bible was alive and actually speakin' to me! Call me crazy, if you must, but I can't deny the reality of that experience. When it was finished, I closed up the Bible and hugged it close to my heart! The Word says in Hebrews 4:12 that the Word of God is living and active. Although I have had other times when God spoke to me from it's pages, never before or since had I ever felt so 'connected' to Him through His Word. It was awesome! Since that experience, I also discovered in the 1st chapter of John, that it talks about 'Jesus' being the living 'Word' of God. Wow! Whatddya' know?! More proof! Well, thanks for the opportunity to share. I look forward to another chat with you! Love your sis, Rose

You never know how really deep the Lord can be except when you are down there. David also said even if I made my bed in Hell yet you are there. And surprisingly that is comforting. For now matter how traumatic and chaotic and gut wrenching an experience is yet God is with you there. God is as Jesus said, Lo I am with you always, even until the end of the earth.

I still recall the time when my first wife had cancer and the pain and suffering we endured there. She eventually died. That was bad enough with all the treatment involved. Yet it went still deeper when she went into a coma. And the doctor said she would die the next day with brain failure and her lungs would stop breathing. We made a choice to take her off life support. That is deepness. Even deeper than the funeral. I can tell you it is true. God answers in the deepest and darkest of times.

The imagery in Psalm 42:7 is very similar to what we read in Psalms 69 & 88:

"Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me." - Psalm 69:1,2.

"Thy wrath lieth hard upon me, and thou hast afflicted me with all thy waves. Selah." - Psalm 88:7.

Jonah likewise experienced this in a literal sense:

"For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me." - Jonah 2:3.

Often, life is a flood of afflictions: poverty, hunger, sickness, brokenheartedness and many other social ills can be overwelming, but the child of God can be assured that even amidst this flood, just like Noah, in the end they will be safe:

"For this shall every one that is godly pray unto thee in a time when thou mayest be found: surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him." - Psalm 32:6.

Thus, we see in the Bible that great waters can often be an allegory or type pointing to destruction.

Either way, note the waves are God's waves, even amidst a world of many calamities, God offers His steadfast love.

I sense this is about one searching the self as opposed to searching elsewhere for God and that concept.

If one is to find God it is best to search your own self before scanning the Universe for answers.

If man is of God, and God was the beggining of man; it must be that God, a part of him is within man. God being "Multi demensional" as man is, is within all things.

I see the Bible as non-complex if read from a spritual standpoint and not interpreted Literally as Evangelist apparently do.

If one seeks contradiction they will find it within the bible many times; yet, there is none if Spritualy understood.

It seems when I yearn the most He is there, yet oddly, I know He's always present.
Several extremely close calls with my health always showed His prescence. That I think to show others, and it really humbles you.
I don't know how many close calls He will give me until He takes me, but I'm ready.

My hope is in the Lord and I have a sure confidence in Him. He has never forsaken me and I have needed Him many times.
