Make sure that her bum is completely dry when you apply the cream. Use Triple Paste. The stuff is AWESOME. Ask a pharmacist. It should clear it up in a couple of days.

Oh gawsh! I remember those. My three year old had a bunch of skin/rash trouble. He was in daycare and we were constantly back and forth to the doctor. There are rashes that the baby butt cream doesn't even touch. If you find the rash isn't getting better in a couple of days you should take the little cutie to the doctor. My son got a yeast infection from daycare and it would get worse or stay the same with butt cream. The doctor gave us some stuff that cleared it right up. If your child is in daycare be sure that they are washing their hands after each diaper change and even before. Needless to say, my sons don't attend that daycare. I guess to answer your question, if the baby butt cream doesn't work, it's not your run-of-the-mill rash and nothing else OTC/Home remedy will work.

Air and water really are the best. Let her bum air out, and give her a bath everyday, just water no soap. I would stop with the baby powder. Use a zinc cream at diaper changes.
If you don't start to see an improvement take her to the doctor, you might need some cortisone cream if the rash is really bad.

well it sounds like you are doing what you need to but i would stay away from the baby powder it can dry up and make the skin worse. also try sitting her in the bath with warm water and some baby bath. plus if you can try not to use diaper wipes they contain alcohol to kill bacteria and that also dries the skin. after her bath let her air dry all the way before you put her diaper back on. if shes not old enough to hold her bladder for a half on hour then lay with her with her diaper underneath to catch any accidents. if it continues for more than three more days i would take her to the doctor they have extra strength butt cream!!! good luck and hope she get better soon

Look for the amount of Zinc Oxide in the cream that you are using, the more the better. Balmex only has about 11%, so try using something like Desitin original or overnite which contains about 40% Zinc Oxide, if it is 2 thick and is hurting when you apply the cream just mix it with a small amount of Vasaline to smooth it out and make it easier to apply. If the rash worsens or doesn't improve in seven days, contact your pediatrician. It could be something more serious like a yeast or fungal infection. Good Luck!

Keep bathing/washing his bum to a minimum for right now. The constant moisture is what is perpetuating his rash. That, and the acidity of the diarrhea stings/burns his already tender skin. My mom gave me one of the best remedies: petroleum jelly, and cornstarch. Tonight before bed, make sure his bum is clean and dry. Put a LOT of vaseline on; I'm talking really gob it on. You want to provide a barrier between his skin and the urine/poop. Buy a box of plain cornstarch - not baby powder, but straight cornstarch in the baking aisle at the market. Pour quite a bit of this on and in his diaper as well. In the morning you'll probably find that the two combined have created little chunks in his diaper but it's nothing that will hurt him and can't be easily cleaned up. Keep doing this throughout the day (but particularly at night) until it clears. It worked almost overnight with my daughter. Best of luck to you and your little man!

She has a diaper rash. Just keep her bottom dry, meaning, change her diaper constantly and keep using the cream until the rash goes away.

You may laugh at this but walmart does sell a very good cream for babies sore bums called just that " Butt Cream" it works wonders and also you can use and anti acid on it like Mylanta. Believe it or not it works, when my doctor first told me to try that I thought he was crazy but it helped in no time!

My son used to get an awful butt rash and my doctor suggested Resinol. You have to get it from the pharmacy but it is an over the counter medicine. I swear by it and it has become a staple in my house. It is a miracle solution.
