This morning I have a routine check up and I was due for some xrays. I wasn't even thinking about if I was pregnant, because I don't know for sure yet. I am taking a test on Monday.
I had the xray where they put the tube by your mouth and take pics. They were extremely fast. Should I be worried if I am pregnant.

How risky are those xrays to the fetus?

While dental x-ray machines give off very minimal radiation, you should have been covered with a lead apron for the taking of them. If you weren't, you need to complain to your doctor as that is the standard of care.

Did they not put a lead apron over you? At least the dentists I have used over the past 20 years do that even though I have not been able to conceive for the past 30 years.

The xrays shouldn't hurt your baby. I had xrays for a sprained ankle during the first month of my last pregnancy, without any lead apron on my stomach, didn't know I was pregnant. I had twins and both were perfect. The OB doctor said he has seen women have full abdominal xrays while pregnant and never have a problem on their fetus.

Usually on a pregnant person we try to minimize taking xrays if possible, especially in the 1st and 2nd trimester, while the baby is developing.
We take all the precautions of lead shield, and the xrays are lickety-split fast, but would still recommend having as few as possible.
You and the baby should be fine, especially with such limited xrays and xrays are much safer now than they were 20 years ago, higher doses of radiation were used with older machines, and a lot of scatter radiation came from older units, that was one of the reasons why they recommended lead-lined walls in offices.
It would take quite a bit more radiation than you were exposed to cause any birth defects.
It is always best to let the office know you could possibly be pregnant, it is always better to error on the safe side.
Best of luck

Well i think its only if the x-ray is near the baby then it would effect it be cause i was watching this programme and this woman had a x-ray while she was pregnant on her hip and she put a lead plate on the bump to make sure the x-ray didn't effect the baby but the tube to the mouth is no were near the fetus so don't worry too much

Relax - the amount of radiation in dental x-rays is minimal. Also, I assume they covered your pelvic area with a lead blanket as they normally would. So, not to worry and congratulations if you are pregnant.

I have heard that dentists will not give x-rays in the first trimester of pregnancy.
