they evolved
The Adam and Eve story is obvious nonsense. Even with the introduction of a small population of "other people" who mysteriously appeared from nowhere, the population would be so small that within a few generations the in-breeding and incest that would inevitably result would cause such a high rate of birth defects that the population would die out.

Well because they are not important to the story being told of how God worked through a particular blood line. There is no talk of the line of Ishmael after he and his mother left [ or were thrown out ]. because it is through a blood line that is not relevant to the story of the salvation of mankind. God did promise him a great nation but not the one he would work through. There are many explanations about the other humans some say they are children of Adam and eve while they lived in the garden of Eden. Remember there were also angels who came to earth and married humans [ another explanation that is possible]. There are people who say the angel stories are not true and I wish I could remember the verses but it is in Genesis. They were the reasons the world became so corrupted at the time, so I have to assume these were the angels who were cast out with Satan.

Read Genesis all the way up to chapter six and it will tell you that Adam and Eve had other sons and daughters. They both lived to about 900 years which means that they probably had hundreds of children. The other people you are talking about that Cain went to another city to get his wife were the children of Adam and Eve and their children's children and so on.

The other people came from Adam and Eve.
It isn't necessary for the story to know of all the children of Adam and Eve. The story is the fall of the human race and our loss of our relationship with God.
The Bible is not written as a book to give facts, even though it is true it's purpose is not that of a text book.
But here is an interesting link on the subject called, Cain's wife - who is she? http://www.answersingenesis.org/home/area/tools/cains_wife.asp

Because Genesis was a shortened version of the Sumerian Creation Epic - The Enuma Elish. nearly all of Genesis can be found in this much older text, along with more details in the same stories. I challenge you to read it, and you will be surprised, i promise. Please consider that there were civilizations around before the advent of the Jewish people and that they must have gotten their information from somewhere. educate yourselves! at the least you have more information with which to refute others arguments, at the most you discover something which enlightens you. and thats the real point in the end anyway.

Even important theologians have faith that the advent tale of Adam and Eve is a ethical tale and can be seen as such. The bills in Genesis are contradictory to it fairly is own self. to boot, the story of Adam and Eve grew to become into taken from yet another faith that grew to become into lots older. this does not propose that God did not create each and everything, merely not in how this is written.

They WERE incestual (by today's standards). However, incest did not exist back then. After all, there were NO OTHER families to marry. The Bible speaks of Cain & Seth making families with their sisters. But then within the first five books of the Bible (Genesis to Deuteronomy), God told them to stop marrying within their own families.
The Bible does not mention every person that lived in the Bible. God only mentions people that He wanted us to see (for whatever reason which only He knows).
I hope this helps.

Go created Adam & Eve. Their progeny is the "other people". Remember the command to "be fruitful"? Well they got that one right at least.
How come their other children aren't mentioned? Why would they have to be. The scriptures mention people that are important to the narrative of mankind's history. Their first children Abel and Cain were mentioned because of the fact that Cain turned himself into the first murderer.

There is at least two, possibly three, versions of the Creation myth included in Genesis. Although self-contradictory, in combining them, the editors of the Bible clearly indicate that each of the stories is 'true' in thier cosmology. Based largely on the Sumerian and Mesopetamian, it is obvious that this world view is acceptable to the Bible compiliers, with the addition of the One God adapation. Genesis is illustrating that the Israelites are the "Children of God, with a birthright to the Covenent", but they are by no means the only humans on earth, just the only 'correct' ones...

Cain's wife is actually mentioned as being one of the Other People, that is, one who is pagan and not of the Children of God, and probably Seth's wife as well.
http://www.caw.org/articles/otherpeople.html
"Accursed and marked for fratricide,
16 Cain left the presence of Yahweh and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.
We can assume that the phrase "left the presence of Yahweh" implies that Yahweh is a local deity, and not omnipresent. Now Eden, according to Gen. 2:14-15, was situated at the source of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, apparently right where Lake Van is now, in Turkey. "East of Eden," therefore, would probably be along the shores of the Caspian Sea, right in the Indo-European heartland. Cain settled in there, among the people of Nod, and married one of the women of that country. Here, for the first time, is specifically mentioned the "other people" who are not of the lineage of Adam and Eve. I.e., the Pagans.
...
17 Cain had intercourse with his wife, and she conceived and gave birth to Enoch. He became builder of a town, and he gave the town the name of his son Enoch....
But suffice it to say that those of us who are not of Semitic descent (i.e., not of the lineage of Adam and Eve) cannot share in the Original Sin that comes with that lineage. Being that the Bible is the story of that lineage, of Adam and Eve's descendants and their special relationship with their particular god, Yahweh, it follows that this is not the story of the rest of us. We may may have been Cain's wife's people, or Seth's wife's people, or some other people over the hill and far away, but whichever people the rest of us are, as far as the Bible is concerned, we are the Other People, and so we are continually referred to throughout. Later books of the Bible are filled with admonitions to the followers of Jahweh to "learn not the ways of the Pagans..." (Jer 10:2) with detailed descriptions of exactly what it is we do, such as erect standing stones and sacred poles, worship in sacred groves and practice divination and magic. And worship the sun, moon, stars and the "Queen of Heaven." "You must not behave as they do in Egypt where once you lived; you must not behave as they do in Canaan where I am taking you. You must not follow their laws." (Lev 18:3) For Yahweh, as he so clearly emphasises, is not the god of the Pagans. We have our own lineage and our own heritage, and our tale is not told in the Bible."

The Genesis is just a metaphor, given to people because people need to know where they came from. Whether it's true or not is debateable, but throughout the world there are creation stories or scientific ventures explaining where and how we came into existence. It would be unhuman not to wonder why.
