It's not weird, in fact it's somewhat sweet, Sweeting.
You may be interested to know that the Sweeting surname originated in Somerset in England, before the Norman conquest, and is currently used by 2,048 people on the UK electoral roll.

maybe 90% of persons don't "like" their name at one point or another (and sometimes there are good reasons). We see people here asking how to change their names.. and since that makes it hard for tracing families, genealogists have a real hard time with that.
Granny C suggests that you need to remember that those who make fun of you, will grow up sooner or later. In your case, the nickname is affectionate, I think. Remember it belongs to your family/ relatives, and be proud.
