What are the chances you have breast cancer when you find a lump and you get a sonogram and the radiation waves wont go through it? Can it be benign still? What does it mean if you see a shadow on the sonogram or mammogram film?

it may just be a blocked milk duct or a benign lump of fatty tissue called a breast mouse( i believe) don't panic yourself or you will end up making yourself ill over it.has the lump been aspirated at all? (cells are withdrawn from within the lump using a very fine needle and sent for fine microscopy)there can be many reasons for a lump, please don't condemn yourself - even if it turns out to be what you're hoping its not, there are loads of treatments available with excellent results.have faith in yourself and the specialists and good luck.xx

If the Oncologist find a lump in a Sonogram, Cancer is more or less confirmed. Oncologist use this technique as it is more effective than mammograms.

Using Power Color Doppler Ultrasound technology, breast sonograms can provide early and accurate images of most highly malignant breast cancers, resulting in life-saving early diagnosis and intervention. According to the American Journal of Radiology, sonography detects four times as many cancers as physical examinations and twice as many cancers as mammography. Another advantage of breast sonograms is that they can be safely and inexpensively repeated to closely monitor areas of concern.

Regular breast sonograms can be used as an alternative to mammograms in obtaining Breast Cancer images, thus eliminating the dangers associated with that procedure. Power Color Doppler Ultrasound can also be useful in tracking suspicious growths and evaluating the effectiveness of a Breast Cancer treatment program.

However final word can be told only if it is confirmed in a Biopsy test.

You need not worry now and leave it to the doctors to detect and treat it as the case may be. At any rate we should not leave anything to chances as CANCER IS TILL AN ENIGMA.-
