He said he wouldn't use water, so he will return with fire. If you deviate from what he says one bit then you're burnt. Kind of like trying to follow the letter of some contract drafted by a lawyer, break one part of it and it becomes null and void. I thought satan was supposed to be the lawyer character.

Gunslinger, same thing. If we don't accept this supposed sacrifice of himself to himself(unless you admit it's a polytheistic religion), then we get burnt, which is all part of the contract I'm talking about.

No lawyer. Judge.
And don't worry about deviating. ALL fall short. Every human. He isn't sweating that. Forgiveness and acceptance is what what love is about. The Hebrew and Islamic versions of the Lord of Life are a bit less accepting. I wouldn't concern myself. Religion is a human thing not a God thing. And Satan is an Archangel whose job is to accuse mankinfd before the Throne of Judgement. Yep. He is a lawyer. Don't worry about any of this. It ain't like that at all. You will see by-and-by.

Let's see...He wrote the Law, He will preside and render judgement over my violation of the Law... but He never said "deviate one bit and you're burnt"....He said.."You can't do it...My Law is too high...My judgement too pure and holy to be able to tolerate sin."...
Now..even if we were to say "oh but Gunslinger, that's playing semantics, it's still the same thing", I'll agree with you....
...but I will point out that you left out the part about what happens after I break the contract...how that same lawyer, will take upon Himself the penalties of the contract, even though it says the penalties are mine to pay.
And sir..that one little bit that was left out...not only makes a world of difference...it makes an eternal difference.

Think of it this way- we are ALL guilty before God- because He is Holy and we are not. I don't think anyone can say that they have never disobeyed or sinned. However, remember that God is the judge- Jesus is the lawyer. If you have never accepted Christ as payment for your sin- the Righteous Judge- will give us what we deserve, hell, and eternal separation from Him, however if we have admitted that we are a sinner, and confessed and repented of our sin, and accepted Christ as Savior, then we are given what we do not deserve, life eternal with God, on earth and in heaven. We deserve to be "burnt" as you put it, but on the cross Justice met mercy. Have you come to the cross?

The scriptures do not say that if you deviate one bit you will burn. What Jesus said is that none can be saved except through faith in him. None of us can ever be good enough on our own, but God loved us enough to give us a get out of hell free card. All you have to do is accept that Jesus paid the penalty of sin for us on the cross. It's really a pretty good deal.
Jesus is like a lawyer in one small sense. When I die and I stand before the throne of judgement. Jesus will stand beside me and say, "I died for this one" He is my advocate.

In a sense, God is like a judge, Jesus is the lawyer defending the defendant (mankind), and satan is considered the prosecutor. Probably should call satan the persecuter,lol... he's the one who persecute's christians just as he did Jesus.

No....Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
"I thought satan was supposed to be the lawyer character." -No Satan is the liar.
Scoffing isn't nice.

Kind of puts things into a new perspective doesn't it? Maybe Satan was banished for asking too many questions and was branded as sedition....Sounds like the modern day.

I think if life is a courtroom, God would be the chick that writes everything down that you say. The only difference is if you ask God nicely he'll erase anything you ask him to.
