Yeah I've switched up from 40 to 60 & noticed improvement... of course check with the Doctor first..... But I have had the same issues with my Meidcation wearing off & having to adjust it (usually increase it) to get improved results... BUT.. there is a middle point where some times a certain dose can be TOO high & it can actually worsen symptoms so having said all that... safest thing is to talk w/ the Doc before acting (or @ least get more opinions from other Users) before deciding how to act.............

It's very common that psych meds work for some time and then poop out. I would call your dr. or see your dr. before upping my meds. That's the safest thing.
If you have an appt soon, upping your prozac might not be a bad idea, because that's what he's probably going to suggest, anyway.
I'm in the process of changing my psych meds due too the poop out process. We've zipped everything up to the highest non-lethal dose, and I'm feeling good for 5 hours a day 5 days a week (est.). We keep working on it.

You can't expect to feel good all the time, just because you're taking a pill. You'll still have "bad days" even if you're taking a regiment of lithium and horse tranquilizers every day.
But you know your mind best, and depression can come in different shades for everyone. If you really feel it creeping back up on you, talk to your doc about upping your meds.
I would also recommend Effexor. Worked better than Prozac for me; prozac was like candy compared to effexor.

visit crazymeds.org Prozac ( and some oher SSRI's but Prozac being the worst offender ) has a history of "pooping out" on people after a while.. Look into changing to another SSRI, you may notice a nice bump in how you feel, siply increasing Prozac's dose may not do it for you anymore

All anti-depressants take time and have side effects. But it reacts with everyone differently. If you don't like the side effects ask you're doctor to switch you're medication. Everyone will go through some sort of "weird" experience trying a new drug. There are plenty out there, so don't loose hope!

I was on Prozac for three years like you. I spoke with my
doctor. He tried increasing the dosage. When That didn't
work, I was put on a new medicine, which worked well for me.
I was told by my doctor, that Prozac after awhile stops working. For some people, its not a long term medicine.
Speak with your doctor, and let him/her know what is going on.

My daughter has been on Prozac for 3-4 years and when it wasn't as affective as it once was, her doctor added Welbutrine 500mg. She has MS and she battles with depression every day. She has been suicidal since she was 16 and we finally have her on the best combination of meds and they are working. Talk to your doctor!

You will need to discuss it with your Dr. Sometimes a persons body will stop utilizing a drug. The Dr. may try upping the dose or may switch you to another drug. The Dr. may need to run blood tests to decide which action to take. It is important to contact your Dr. Asap to be seen, so that the course of action can be decided before your symptoms become worse.

I would not take prozac if i were u......There are many different medications out there. They are alot more helpful than that....
Laughter is the best medicine......they say that if you laugh like that deep gut laugh (the one that makes you stomach hurt, you cry,) is equal to 10mg of Valium.

You probably don't want to hear this, but exercise has been shown in studies to be just as effective as prescription drugs for treating depression. Lace up a pair of sneakers and go for a brisk walk or jog. You'll feel better. I promise.
