To those asking questions, why do you only select people who answer how you like it? I have seen only atheists picking atheists and christians picking bible-thumpers, but tell me, why do you say this?
And yes, this is the Original Penguin Crusader, just a bit...blue..

I USUALLY ask questions intended to be more of a joke than anything... not all of them- but most. I usually award the 10 to whoever provides a good enough answer to make me laugh.

If its a serious one, I go for the ones that answer it briefly and honestly... If the question is directed at a certain group, I pick from that group- unless they ALL say something stupid, then I pick the funniest sarcastic answer.

I am a Christian and I have been selected as best answer by an atheist. Kudos to him for his honesty. I have not asked any questions, but I hope that other Christians are open enough to admit when an atheist has a good answer or at least give them credit for their wit.

It is only when we have honest and civil exchange of ideas that we become our best selves.

I think even in the best circumstances, questions are asked here to see if anyone can bring any enlightenment to the asker. Sometimes it happens, but not a radical change. I mean, if an atheist asks "What proof is there for God" and gets the usual littany of Pascal's wagers, Bible quotes and fallacious logic, he's not going to pick one of them.

Conversely, if a Christian woman asks "Why do you find it offensive that women are to submit to their husbands," she might pick a Christian who says, "Well, I don't think you should submit if your husband asks you to go against God," which is still a Christian answer but brings a bit more to it; but she wouldn't pick "I find it offensive because I am intelligent and able to think for myself."

I haven't had this problem, I'm a Christian and have been selected by atheists. I think the problem might be that when you answer from one perspective a person from the other might find your answer inaccessible and exclusionary/condescending. People being what they are, it makes it highly unlikely they would find that answer worthy of note.

Sometimes I do only becaue they are the ones who read my question and got what I was saying.
But I have chosen people I don't even like as best answer for the exact same reason.

Because there is a popularity contest...and of course one would pick the other with the same beliefs..because they agree with them. People often enough don't pick the best answer but, pick their friends over who is right! It's the way of life!

Your statement is untrue.

I often select Christian answers as the best as I'm sure they will testify and you can see if you look at my profile.

This one was for Father K only yesterday:-

Well, usually those answers sound the best because they are along the same lines of our beliefs (or lack thereof). I'm not going to pick a fundie's answer just because it is well constructed and uses proper grammar ...

birds of a feather and all that.

however, I can honestly say that I usually pick atheists for best answer to my questions, because they are often times the funniest.
