I want to buy a hair flat iron that actually works and won't damage my hair as much. There are so many out there, that I don't know which one to buy. Any suggestions?

Okay, no need to spend 150 dollars on a flat iron! I use a 1" Revlon flat Iron and it works AMAZINGLY. the smaller irons are always better, because when you only use small amounts of hair, each piece tends to get more heat. It's only about 25 dollars and works like a charm! I've had it for about a year and a half already..so it's very durable, very advanced, and affordable!

The Solia. My hair is curly in high humidity and wavy in medium humidity. The Solia gets my hair straight. Of course, my hair will still frizz/curl in high humidity, but I don't blame my Solia for that. I think I need to find the right styling product (am considering Redken Smooth down heat glide). Another advantage to the Solia that it greatly reduces damage to your hair because it has tourmaline (a kind of gemstone) in its plates.....which means the Solia causes less damage than the even ceramic flat irons. You can get one at $88 from Folica.com. Mine was definitely worth it--plus, it comes with a 1-year warentee. (Ever watch the show Ten Years Younger on the Learning Channel? Look close--one of thier their prof. hairstylist (the pink-haired one)--uses a Solia.

The Sedu is probably as good or better than the Solia. But the price tag is too high for me.

I've heard good things about the CHI, but I also hear that it is not durable--it breaks easily and stops working so well overtime..................

Hope this helps!

Some people don't realize it but it also depends on the type of hair you have when you are looking at buying hair products and accessories not just styling gels and such. For instants I have thick long black hair and course. I use a gold curling iron and a gold flat iron because my hair will hold the style a lot longer then if I use a silver colored one.

I couldn't live without my straightener! It doesn't make my hair perfectly straight or keep it straight for days, but it certainly improves a ton. My hair dries really curly, and I can get pretty straight hair by straightening. The more expensive ones do work better. I've heard Chi is an extremely good brand, but expensive. Some people can straighten curly hair really fast. It takes me 40 minutes but I guess that depends on the brand and the person doing it...good luck with your hair!

I´ve tried many types, but I finally stayed with Revlon. I personally like extra wide irons because my hair is thick and coarse, but if it is not your case try the smaller ones. Try to find one that has curved blades, so you can flip the ends if you want a little something extra. If you are not going to use it every day, the ones suitable for wet hair are wonderful, they leave it really shiny, just make sure to have a good moisturizing conditioner at hand.

The ghd hair styler, although it's a bit expensive.
Or maybe the Nikkei Red straightener.
You must use a heat protection product on your hair.
