Least of my brothers = LOB. Same as an SOB.

I once heard that and I believe it. Think of somebody you can't stand, somebody who you might say to yourself "What a son of a biscuit-eater" Somebody you think is a jerk and a pain in the behonkus and an arrogant bigot, or a general idiot.

Whatever you do to them, is what you do to Jesus.

That's a good reminder for me.

Christ's brothers are those that are born again in spirit and look forward to join Christ in heaven.
The least of these (by human standards) would be the poor, the down trodden, those that most humans tend to bypass.
By calling them "least" he was giving a human perspective and not His opinion of His brothers.

At another place in the gospels, someone told Jesus that his mother and brothers wanted to see Him, He responded that those who do the will of His father are his mother and brothers and sisters.

So I believe Matthew 25 - the story of the sheep and goats - where you are quoting from - is talking about how we treat other believers.

How can we call ourselves Christians if we see our brother in need - the persecuted Christians in China, India and other countries - and do nothing to help him?

How can we call ourselves Christians if we know of a brother or sister who is literally starving to death and we do nothing to help? Or a brother who is in prison, or who needs clothes, or who needs support....

god bless

I think he was saying the poorest or lowest of people that we meet like the homeless, the destitute, the drug addict, the alcoholic. When we show our love for humanity and help these people we are doing it for Jesus too. It is easy to love someone who is nicely dressed, clean, has good manners, is polite etc but much harder to care for the dirty, unwashed, smelly homeless man who sits under a tree and drinks cheap grog until he passes out. But this guy is a child of God too.

The meek, poor in spirit, poor in money, people in need, the persecuted, the down trodden, the low in society, etc. Hope you get the idea.
Ever walk past a homeless person?
Next time you see one, go out of your way to treat him or her the way you would like to be treated if it were you and pray that God does not decide to let you experience homelessness first hand.

It means people who are considered unimportant by society -- the homeless, the sick, the poor, anyone who needs kindness, compassion, and love (maybe in the form of assistance or money or time) most of all. If you treat them well, then you are treating him well because they are his children. If you treat these people with contempt or disregard them, then you do the same to Jesus, because he considers them to be very important and worthy of love.

He was referring to those who do not have a high position in our society, children, poor, sick, elderly etch... Anyione would like to invite famous, rich people to their events but not the poor, low class. He referrs to inviting or including those who can not repay you for your kindness and says if you love those who love you it's not a big deal but to love those who don't love you or can't pay you back is greater. Isn't that beautiful!

Strangers, or children, or people that are the furthest away from you. It is easy to be good to people you love: The test is in being loving to those you don't know.
