...It's not because you never cared or you stopped caring for them. It's just that you realized you weren't good enough for them that the only way to tell them you love them is to say goodbye...

You would not happen to know if you are good for a certain person or not in the beginning of any relation, right?...that is why my question means to say that I JUST realized, meaning during the course of the relationship...

still, i sincerely appreciate the inputs...

yes, sometimes this is best. if you let them go and they come back, then you know it was meant to be.

if not, then it is a new beginning and that is beautiful because always as one door shuts, another opens.

Sometimes we stare so long and hard at the closed door we don't see the one that has opened behind us.

First of all, it immediately disturbed me that you think you are not good enough for a certain person you are letting go, because this is your opinion of yourself???
How have you come to this self blaming, self depreciating conclusion?
Has your love interest alluded to that, so that you may have adopted what he may have said?
How unfortunately sacrificial you come through to me in this question!
What FACTS determine you are not good enough?
And I said FACTS, not lacking of self worth imagination.
Ask yourself : what has this love interest proven to me, and in what way, so that I must abandon the relation for what sake?
For his sake?
For yours? You imply you still care for this person, but for his own good you are leaving the relationship?
No, it does not make sense! There is something that has happened that has made you take up the responsibility of breaking up because of something you are not mentioning.
I'd say, review these reasons that make you bear the awful burden. Review them, this time giving fairness to yourself as well.
And don't ever again put yourself down for anything.
Neither be arrogant, not self depreciating. Be yourself! Begin from there and examine with logic the situation, not with a wounded imagination.

Well why do you think you aren't good enough? I've had girls tell me that and honestly it hurt me, I liked them but they said I needed someone better, it sounded like an easy way out for them to break up...now, if something else is going on then maybe saying goodbye is ok...people who really care should like you no matter your faults

Are you sure that's it? You weren't good enough for the other person? Before you get down on yourself, you should consider that it might not be a matter of worth at all. Maybe it was a matter of incompatibility, or he wanted something else...

I think that is cheap way to get out of a relationship. If you knew you weren't good enough for them why did you say " I love you" to them?

I agree if things are not in the cards for a couple, than it is wise to just let go...It doesn't mean you stop caring, just that it is not in the future.

Good point, but you are good enough for anyone. AND they should realize it. NO one is too good for you

NO... Never give up, still be friends, there is no harm in friends.

Even though love is there, you can still use that, and use it to improve your friendships.
