I'm planning my first trip to New York city this year 2007 and I was wondering when do they light up that big christmas tree Rockerfeller? thank you!

whether there no very fact yet, relax assure the tree lighting fixtures ceremony at Rockefeller center is often held on the 1st Wednesday in December, that's the week after Thanksgiving. good success

The first Wednesday after Thanksgiving so this year it is November 28th at 7pm.
