Why are the illegals and mexicans allowed to loiter on OUR street corners. There is a law against loitering and in every city and town in this country there is a street corner where mexicans and illegal immigrants are found loitering. The police aren't doing anything about it. WHY NOT?!!!!

I have to use these routes everyday and it makes me UNCOMFORTABLE to go into these areas when these people, who are clearly breaking the law in more ways than one, are out there loitering. So what if they want a better life!!!! I want a better life too. But I aint breaking the law to get it!!!!

Why are they getting away with beaking the law!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are informal gathering spots for day laborers to get picked up for work (cash payment, no taxes, of course). Home Depots, 7-11s, etc.

The police let it ride more times than not because they are outnumbered, it would take multiple squad cars, paddy wagons, etc. And the police feel they have better things to do, chasing down violent criminals, responding to emergencies, etc.

I'm not saying I don't feel similarly to you--I do. But my answer is the reality of the situation.

The more you and others complain to "city hall", the greater the liklihood of change. So start calling today, and get your friends to do the same.

See Irving Tx and their approach to illegal aliens for an example.

Two things: if the police did start enforcing this, the people waiting for work would just go to parking lots where they were welcome (e.g. at Home Depot, etc.). There are no laws against loitering on private property, if the owner of the property doesn't complain. Home Depot doesn't mind having day laborers in its parking lot, because the person picking up a day laborer might also need materials.

Second, loitering laws have been found unconstitutional in many cases, because people have the right to free assembly. There has to be reason to believe that the loitering is linked to some other illegal behavior. It can be as minor as disorderly conduct (including e.g. obstructing sidewalks), but there has to be something clearly illegal about the loitering for the law to be upheld. If the loiterers are waiting relatively quietly and not harassing others, and making room for the people passing by, it's very difficult to apply loitering laws to them without being challenged in court. If, on the other hand, they are doing some of those things, then they can be brought in for them.

You might argue that a group of Hispanic people hanging out on a street corner is likely to be a group of illegal immigrant day laborers, and you'd be right, but it wouldn't hold up in court. If a Hispanic citizen or green card holder were arrested for loitering under these circumstances, the police department of that city would be looking at a huge lawsuit for racial profiling.

Well, they seem to have some type of unwritten amnesty! I have no idea!! It seems they just can't do anything wrong. I live on the border and ordinary people get stopped all the time for bad tail lights, expired stickers, emissions problems, and every other traffic violation imaginible.

However, everywhere I look, there's a mexican junk heap driven by some illegal barely making it down the road with no tags, parts falling off in the street, smoke coming out the back, no brake lights, tires half flat....... probably no insurance................. AND NO ONE STOPS THEM!!!!!!!!

It is absolutely infuriating!!

What is most puzzling to me is the fact that there are lots of people who support them and think this is just great!!

It is clear that at the end of the day, regardless of what job they may have or not have, the mexican immigrants are a net loss to our society.

NOT a net gain... A net loss........ In business, that means the doors will be shut soon and I beleive it means the same in a society.

OH wow! IGNORANCE is the mother of all. ILLEGALS AND MEXICANS, can we get any more racist than that! .I think this are the same people that are raising your kids when you are at work all day and cleaning after you when you are TOO lazy to so do so you’re self. These are the same people that are fixing your food in every restaurant you go to eat. And then we ask ourselves why this country is the way it is, because of people like you RACIST.

basically it comes down to this: the police do not have enough room to store these illegals. In most major cities this is a very real problem but taking into account all the other law breakers the police have to deal with on a normal basis they simply do not have enough resources to round them all up and hold them anywhere. Most cities besides Maricopa county and my hero Sherriff Joe Arpiao (maybe miss spelled that) dont even take notice unless there committing serious crimes.

It renders down to the RICH :) All that illegal crap is because illegals are given jobs here. RICH pays little to them.... It is good for the business, BUT not for other people except RICH who save a lot of money paying illegals few dollars for the job that would cost hundreds of dollars. Rich do not deal with loitering and other ugly things.... This is why they get away.....

They aren't doing anything about it because they are afraid of being accused of racism. You do know that it is now considered "racism" if you oppose illegal immigration in any way, right?

I know what you mean. We had a local mom and pop store shut down because no one wanted to walk through the group constantly standing out front. I pass this store coming home from work every day. They whistle at you, make lewd gestures, and I have seen them urinate on the sidewalk. When the store closed, they just moved on down the road to the next one, which I also have to pass on my way home. This situation is out of control, and they just don't care.
