also...fencing is electronic so it is an art and judging is minimal
is boxing an art or just brutality.....they should make a decision b/c if it is art then they can wear headgear.....brutality then they should be as legal as dog fighting

You can still COUNT punches but you cant measure POWER. Fighters like Paul Williams would be litterally unstoppable as he throws a hundred punches a round but most of those punches are just taps and while they take a cumulative effect power punchers would be at a disadvantage. Sure they could work the body but if someone has head gear they wil be more apt to guard their body's more than their already protected head. Part of the appeal is the chance of a knockdown or knock out. I think boxing would lose a lot of fans but very good question it is something to consider.

It's a safety factor to prevent serious head injuries. It's also a very smart boxer who agree's to headgear. If someone hits you in the head during a match, the punch is counted but your head is protected.

Yes!!! Look at what not wearing it has done to some of them in the past. Everyone knows those jabs and blows to the head are not good for them. Some protection is definatley needed>

Bad idea. Boxing is a barbaric sport but that is one of the reason people love it. Don't box if you are not willing to get seriously hurt because it could happen.

Boxing would die an agonizing death if you did that. People want to see KO's, or at least the chance for one.
