OK, perhaps war is too strong a word, but every LDS related question seems to bring out the anti-Mormons, so I just wondered how many there are, and how many Mormons there are. And I expect there are some fence-sitters too, lovely tolerant respectful people who have their own religion but don;t see the need to criticise mine.

Norris Penguin put together a list of all the Mormons on Y!A about a month ago in a question.

I'm not sure how up-to-date it is though

I love these kind of Us verses Them questions asked here.

The term anti-Mormon is a nice buzz word, but it means about as much as anti-oxygen.
In "sheer numbers" you'll find that most people whether they be non-Mormon, never-Mormons, ex-Mormons or even Mormon critics don't really fall under the category of "anti".

Mormonism has long believed that any church that is not of the one Joseph Smith founded are "Churches of Satan" and yet you never hear them called "anti-Catholic, or anti-Protestant...

Most people believe that anyone that speaks out against the LDS church is an automatic anti-Mormon, who promotes anti-Mormon literature and anti-Mormon views.
Try to remember most of these so-called anti-Mormons are former members and have many family members that are still very active in the church, but you assume they are also anti-family, right?
Most opposition to the church comes from people who otherwise do not give a rat's tookus what goes on inside the ward down the street, but if you want to call them on it, they are not afraid to voice their views..

The term anti-Mormon most likely came out of the church's desire to "smite" any opposition to their doctrine or practices, and to induce fear and loathing of outsiders in it's members.

Well I'm rambling, none of this should matter to active members, or former members for that matter...

I don't agree with the church at all..So I guess that makes me an anti
Woo-Hoo! Labels are bitchin!

Perhaps the best description or name is "Jack Mormon" here. Still carried on the membership books but left the cult many years ago after a 55+ years of activity. From youth to five different Bishoprics, I finally got to the necessary research of the Church's beginnings. Was a sad day for me and all the Temple ordinances.

Still a Christian (Bible) and love so many of the great people caught up in the "mass hypnotic affair".

I'm not a Mormon, but I'm not an anti-Mormon either.

I don't think I've seen Mormons condemn me to hell, and the ones I have as contacts are cool, so as far as my limited experience goes, Mormons are cool.

There is a whole bunch of Mormons on here. I am one, and a good percentage of my contacts are, or at least supportive of us. Talk to Norris Penguin, he has (or had) a big ol' list.

Not Mormon, but depending on the reasons for the conflict, I might help them out. What's the context?

Count me among the Mormons. I have been a member all my life.

What??? I don't think we're at war with the Mormons! Or have I missed something?

I was a atheist Mormon/Christian basher until a year ago.

Now I am an active one.

I'm only here to fix what I see as lies or misunderstandings of doctrine that we teach, but please count me on the Mormon side, if they'll take me...
