When I took a yoga class and meditated a lot, I was able to control my dreams. I would look around, find something incongruous with real life, and become aware that I was dreaming. I could wake myself up or carry on in the dream.

Some people have such ability. I too can do that. Once the dream turns into a nightmare I wake myself up. But I can do only for some dreams not for all.

Only the ones which involve the house where I grew up. For some reason these always turn into nightmares & I can wake myself up from them, but no others.

Happens to me all the time Bahamut.
I often have nightmares but I'm rarely in mortal danger in them.
But everytime I am I wake up, I think it's fairly common from what I've seen and read on the subject.

Not just during nightmares, whenever I am dreaming I know that I am dreaming and can wake myself up anytime.
