Then why do you expect me to seek answers in a book of bronze age mythology?
See where I'm going with this?
Why would you rely on ancient myths and fairy tales, when humanity has come so very far in the areas of science, medicine and technology? Why can't you let go of your backwards dietary restrictions (pork is now safe enough to eat with pink in the middle) or legends about a "son" who "walks on water" (in fact the myth of jesus is stolen verbatim from the myth of Horus the "Sun" god who "walked on water" twice a day; sunrise and sunset.
So please, if you MUST have an intellectual crutch, go ahead. But do NOT think for a moment that anyone with an IQ higher than their shoe size and an education above the 4th grade will consider your cult to be anything but a backwards set of morality tales set down by mysoginistic old men living in monasteries a thousand years ago. K?

To those of you who, correctly, pointed out that I wrote 'deists' instead of 'theists', thank you for the correction. You are, of course, absolutely correct.
My mistake.

Don't you mean theists, though? Deists don't believe in a personal god or miracle doer as such as far as I'm aware and they like going to up to date quacks, as do most people apart from the mentally aberrant christian scientists.
Otherwise, spot on.

Dude.........it is just faith
nothing more....and totally without evidence of course
1. Many more individuals are born than can possibly survive, thus there is competition for limited resources
2. Within this vast number there is variation, and because of this variation some of these individuals will have an advantage--however slight--over others
3. The ones who have the advantages are more competitive and thus they are more likely to obtain the limited resources
4. The ones who are succeeding in securing the limited resources are more likely to reproduce and thus pass onto their offspring the more competitive traits

I have been amazed at the extent Christianity has managed to challenge itself from within.
Fairly recently, in Australia where I now live, we acquired our first and only Heretic, a chap called Peter Cameron, an minister from the Church of Scotland who joined the presbytarian church.
A Cantabridgian scholar, he drove into the heart of conflicts between modernity (literal word of christ, evolution, the resurrection) and found himself predictably at odds with the fundamentalist elements which are much the same here now as in the states.
What is remarkable is not that he was declared a heretic, but that from being declared a heretic, he went back to the church of scotland without incident as well as holding a chair in theology at the university of Sydney where maybe he still is.
No, there are thinkers in the Christian church, and as Dr Cameron points out, every advance in doctrine has been carried on the blood of heretics.
You might be surprised how self challenging and self aware some elements of the Christian church are. I know I was.

I expect you and every one else will use modern things for medicine to answer your question.....now to the important things.......I used to be an atheist before but thankfully not now, 100 % believer now and the atheists here that have not converted yet are only here for one reason, to learn more about God because they are fence sitters still not sure if they want to jump in. REAL atheists like I used to be would never hang out in a place such as this that is full of religion. in their questions and answers they will deny it but that is only so their friends that see their questions an answers will not make fun of them.they will put up a very strong anti-God front but a front is all it really is.....100 % here are secretly fence sitters,..no true atheists here not even one....not even you...and NO I WAS NEVER NEVER NEVER HERE WHEN I WAS ATHEIST but then agian I WAS atheist not just posing as one like you and all the others here !

I think you are referring to 'theists' not 'deists' because deists don't believe in religion. They see nature as proof of the existence of a creator, but deny that there is some god out there who specifically created humans and has some oddball fetish requiring him to communicate with them.

I greatly disagree with you. Science is one thing and
spirituality is another thing.
Mankind knew God from the begining of time and
is getting more wayword and "self-sufficient"
The Bible even says that knowlege will increase but
mankind's hearts will decrease in faith and spiritual and
moral truth!!!!!!
So, the best source we have for real wisdom is
from long ago - what is increasingly being forgotten
and taken for granted.

LOL. You have a free will. You can look information from anywhere you want. But think first what is wise. If you are looking for shark teeth from the mountains it can take longer time than necessary. ; )

So, let me get this straight. You grew up in a Christian home, your girlfriend left you and you got mad at God. OK, I can understand why you are so upset at something that you don't believe exists.

The Bible is the truth whether you believe it to be or not.
And yes.....I go to doctors when need be.
Scripture is a proven source..........historical, geographical, and most important.....Spiritual.
The Holy Spirit of God who indwells each & every believer confirms the truth of the Scriptures in our hearts daily.
