I've done some reading. Under the conditions thay you specified, 6-7 years would seem to be the best to drink by date but like milk, you can drink it up to the 9th year. By the time it gets that old, the vodka may lose some of its chemical composition and may start to chemically decay. Also, if it is a premium vodka and has a wooden cork, i'd recommend getting rid of that as soon as possible to avoid mold.

I've got to repeat a sad story that I was told last night (this is absolutely true):
Just before Prohibition my friend's grandfather put aside a bottle of bourbon for his newborn daughter's wedding. This became a family legend after the old man died with his daughter unwed. The spinster lived in the house the rest of her life. Years later my friend was helping clean the old family house so they could sell his aunt's and grandfather's old house. In the back of his grandfather's tool cabinet he found the apocryphal bottle of fine bourbon!! It was covered with over 60 years of crud, the seal appeared to be intact, but the cork had dry rotted -- the bottle was half empty, the contents smelled awful with no hint of alcohol. My friend poured a glass but couldn't drink it.

The lesson is obvious -- don't put off for tomorrow, what you can drink today!
