This is a great idea!
Birds are very social creatures and it is good to keep them in the middle of the action where they can get the most attention.

Depends on type of bird.
Generally parrots and conures love to observe the "action" and need the simulation to be happy. They just get lonely if stuck off in the corner and develop bad behaviors.
I try to keep my birds away from the television. (seeing screen not the audio). Has caused distress to some in the past and causes hyperactivity (my opinion).
I also suggest freedom from cage for parrots and conures.
A play yard on top of cage, or detached perch is best. I don't mean free flight all over your house. I believe in partial clipping of wings to keep the bird out of trouble/safe.
Make the bird a part of your family cuz it will be there for a LOOONG time.

I think birds like to be around activity & sounds. An open space sounds good. Moving him is fine. Just be sure you don't place him near a door or a draft - very important! Also, please don't allow people to put their fingers on the cage, as this would be the thing where you would loose his trust. That's his world. Birds don't like it being threatened. Protect him.

Birds love to see other people and to be able to see outdoors. In the warm weather, I move her cage on the porch with the top of the cage partially covered so that she can go into the shade if she chooses, I bring her indoors after she has been out for several hours. She can also see outdoors all of the time from her perch when she is indoors and is great for letting me know when someone is entering my property.

It is fine to put a bird where people are, but please beware! Certain birds are allergic to certain chemicals. You should not smoke around your bird, use household cleaners, bug sprays, or deodorizers. These items have been known to kill birds or at least make them very ill. Remember, they are not human and their immune systems are not the same as ours. Love your bird and give him lots of attention and he will reward you in so many ways. They are awful messy though, so make sure you don't mind cleaning up after them.

I own a Quaker Parrot and a Sun Conure, which are both in their cages in the livingroom. In the time that I have owned them, I have seen a huge difference in them, by being with people ! When you seperate them in another room where they don't get the attention, they tend to become very loud and upset, which means more aggressive and biting may even occur. The biggest thing for you is to make sure you spend time outside of it's cage, so it knows you acknowledge it ....... he will love you for it ! ! !
