I just finished my sleeve and I went to the store to buy some bacitracian. Of course, looking for a decent sized tube of bacitracian is almost impossible. I found Bacitracian with moisturizing aloe in it. I was just told by my friend that his tattoo artist said its a no-no to use anything with aloe. Since my tattoo is almost healed now is there any negative side effects I should look out for like a loss of color or scars?????

The good news is that really almost anything will heal the tattoo - there is much talk always about what to use and not to use but if used SPARINGLY all these preparations will be okay.

The less ingredients, the better and really most tattoo artists shun the antibiotic ointments as well as petroleum jelly but that is really in most after care products anyway, including A&D.

I have written volumes on after care here - you might want to look at some of the old posts. At any rate, you are pretty much healed so whatever you are doing seems to be ok.

By now you have switched to a mild fragrance free lotion, or at least should - antibiotic ointment can never be applied for a prolonged period. Enjoy your tattoo!

Never seen the two combined.....but bacitracin 1st 10 days then aloe wont change nothing, or do any damage....
the skin soaks both of these up, and thats what you want.....the only way you get scars is from the artist hammerin the area. your friend sounds like he must have a heavy hand, and is looking for a way to put it on the customer.........

If it's already healed, I think it should be fine. I've only heard of petroleum jelly causing trouble on tattoos.
