Well this is the gun i chose to be my first starter gun that is actually a good defensive round. I have been using a .22 and learned many good habits with it. Now i choose the .40 to take me into the Good rounds like 45 40 and 9 i plan on buying some more handguns like the XD, M&P, and a 1911 down the road.

So was this a good choice any little reviews you can give me if you have it or know about it or your opinions on it? please no taurus bashers. i am fully aware of your arguements and they do not phase me so please just some good answers/.....

well thank you all...

7 years ago, i bought a 92afs and 100afs taurus, both were asoutndingly accurate and i had no problems with either gun then or since then. 4 months ago i picked up a 24/7, took it out shooting, and at 15 yards there was no grouping on an nra target. i think 8 of the 18 actually made it onto paper. i was disgusted, especially after how well i shoot my other taurus guns. called taurus got a repair number and shipped it in, and in 8 weeks my gun was back with a new barrel, and i was back to hitting the ten ring.

Flat out, Taurus makes a damn fine weapon. And if you arent satisfied, they will fix it, or replace it. Taurus is not a low quality manufacturor and has not been for sometime. I will take the pepsi challenge with anyone if i get to use my 92afs!
(i used to score a perfect 250 on my L.E. qualification! but i have also done that with my Glock 20)

You'll know after about 5000 rounds or several years of shooting. The 24/7 was Taurus' entry into the JCP (Joint Combat Pistol) program that SOC and the Army spearheaded to replace the Beretta M9. I have heard good things about it and it is a very affordable pistol. It's such a new pistol it doesn't have much history behind it. But Taurus has come along way, and it does have some positive reviews. As long as it groups well, fires when you pull the trigger, doesn't malfunction, has decent sights, you should be just fine.

Here is an interesting article from Guns and Ammo.

I have a friend whose opinion I trust when it comes to pistols and he loves his. I have shot it several times and been happy with it.

There was a time, in the 1980s, when Taurus was a "Tier 2" firearms maker, when they just sold cheaper copies of S&W revolvers. I had one of those revolvers and it's still pumping out .38 Special rounds as it always has, 25 years later. Anyone who thinks that Taurus is not a first class manufacturer needs to seriously look at some of the quality products they have produced over the years

I have heard alot of good things about the 24/7 however my friend just bought one and after each shot the mag falls out...I do not know. For me I enjoy the heck out of both my Springfield XDs. I have a 9mm and the .45acp tactical. I would stay away from Smith & Wesson semi-autos...nothing but bad luck with them....

For a little more you could have afull size Glock model 22, or the compact model 23, which are super reliable super safe, and can be repaired by the owner, if need be . Tauruses in my opinion are NOT dependable, and workmanship is poor.

40S&W is a good round
but isn't it a little late to be asking if this was a good choice?
