I'm from the UK, I answer questions 'all english questions'. I am learning to get on with the textlish and some generally bad english around here, it's part of the territory. Why is it when I use the words colour or sceptic, probably others as well, people pick me up un my spelling (always sceptics so far) I'm sure they don't go round correcting everbody else. Is it a charater trait of sceptics? Would they insist I stay off the pavement and go out in just my pants?

The Yanks tend to forget that they're not the "centre" of the universe and that there are other ways to do things besides their way.

Cheers mate!

The problem is that some Americans are to ignorant to accept those differences. That or they're grammar freak English teachers. Besides, there are probably a good ammount of Americans who get corrected by people in the UK for using color or fairy or lawyer.

Its just we're not used to using that spelling here. So what if we went on the UK site and started spelling color, and theater, and skeptic, im pretty sure we wouldn't get off that easy because ppl over ther are not used to that spelling!!--♥

Yahoo a division of British Telecom? Please, learn to read as well as spell.

Yahoo just partnered with BT for yellow page data. Yahoo is still a U.S. corporation.

I'm making statement of this question not out of my own experience because its not my personality but just observing a family member, neighbor and co-employee's attitude who's believing too much of themselves, its not that they're not worth to be different but they have something to show off and stand for what they are, and what they have. They find that "different thing" as a plus factor of being a person because they're different and proud of being a DIFFERENT PERSON.

While there are many of us 'foreigners', this seems to be largely an American forum, after all, only their country seems to be affected by 'global warming', even the yahoo supplied spell checker is US.

Yahoo is an American company. It is not unreasonable that the preponderance of its users are American and that its spell checker uses American English as its base. Deal with it.
