I make some special gelatos that I would like to bring to my family & friends across the world. I will need to keep them frozen during travel. Will there be any problem going through custom if they are packed in dry ice?

There's no problem with carrying dry ice in your check-in luggage. That is permissible worldwide. Don't worry about customs because dry ice is not a "hot" item and you won't get taxed or hassled with it. What is more important is the item that needs to be "iced" but since you said they are gelatos, then you can walk through any customs clearance around the world without any hitches.

The airlines, however, do not allow dry ice in carry on baggage as this may be dangerous due to the pressurized cabin.

I hope I'd get to taste your gelatos. They should be special considering you're going through the trouble of bringing them around the world. Bon voyage!

Call your airline and see if they have a policy of traveling with dry ice, that's the only real way to know if there is going to be a problem, they should tell you if they even allow checked luggage with dry ice (it probably won't be able to be carry on) and what rules that you should follow.
