They do not. Nor do they follow Jesus.
Jesus does not teach contrary to his Father. Jesus taught that we should follow, pray to and obey God the Father. Remember, Jesus and the Father are ONE, not discordant or contrary.
And Christians are taught to live "by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God," not just a part of it; that includes the Old Testament.
And BTW, Jesus IS Jehovah!

I think you are under the misconception that Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christians. This is far from the truth!! The 2007-2008 District Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses which is being held world wide is titled "Follow the Christ" At this convention, topics dealing with Jesus' life and ministry were discussed, such as Keeping Christ's Mental Attitude in you; Follow Jesus Pattern In the Ministry; Precious Gems from t he Sermon on the Mount; Jesus' Unique role in Jehovah's Purpose.
Through our extensive study of the entire Bible, we appreciate the role that Jesus plays as our redeemer. It is by means of his blood that we have the opportunity for life.
We also strive to imitate Jesus in our lives, including preaching the good news about God's Kingdom (Matthew 28:19,20), which was the theme of his ministry when he was on earth.

You ask a question, then you answer it. So what do you want from us?
Jehovah's Witnesses follow the same one Jesus follows. At John 4:23, 24, Jesus said: "Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth, for, indeed, the Father is looking for suchlike ones to worship him. God is a Spirit, and those worshiping him must worship with spirit and truth."
At John 7:16, Jesus said: "What I teach is not mine, but belongs to him that sent me. If anyone desires to do His will, he will know concerning the teaching whether it is from God or I speak of my own originality."
At John 12:49, 50, Jesus said: "Because I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak. Also, I know that his commandment means everlasting life. Therefore the things I speak, just as the Father has told me [them], so I speak [them].”
Jesus said at Matt. 7:21: "Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will."
At John 15:15, Jesus said to his disciples: "But I have called you friends, because all the things I have heard from my Father I have made known to you."
At John 20:17, Jesus said to Mary: "Stop clinging to me. For I have not yet ascended to the Father. But be on your way to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father and to my God and your God."
TRUE Christians worship the same God and Father that Jesus worships--Jehovah, the one Jesus called the ONLY true God. John 17:3; Ps. 83:18

Mat 4:10 Then Jesus said to him: “Go away, Satan! For it is written, ‘It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.’”
Rev 4:11 “You are worthy, Jehovah, even our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power, because you created all things, and because of your will they existed and were created.”
Rev 7:10 And they keep on crying with a loud voice, saying: “Salvation [we owe] to our God, who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb.”
We worship the Father Jehovah as Jesus taught us. We love our King Jesus Christ and know that salvation would not be possible without Jesus.
Jehovah sent his Son to die for us.
It's important that you don't leave out Jesus Father Jehovah.
You and I both know that Jesus loves his Father Jehovah. Notice again Rev 7:9-10
that salvation comes from God and the lamb Jesus Christ.

Anybody who is anointed with the Holy Spirit follows Christ, which equates exactly with following Jehovah, because the Father and the Son are part of the triune God-head. ('Boo! Hiss!' I hear all you JWs cry!)
The interesting bit though, is that anyone who does NOT have the indwelling, anointing of the Holy Spirit cannot please God, nor do they belong to Christ! That's what Romans chapter 8 says - even in the NWT. The anointing has to come first before you can start following! It's not coincidence that 99.9% of JWs today who don't have this anointing think they are following God and Christ. But they don't have the anointing, so what is their opinion worth compared with Romans chapter 8?
Interestingly, in the 1930s the then JWs insisted that only the anointed class were to be called Jehovah's witnesses. They told the newly forming 'great crowd' (or Jonadabs) that holy spirit anointing was not for them; they had to support the work of the Jehu class (themselves) but they could not be teachers or leaders. So you can see who's pulling the strings and who are the errand boys.

Cute speech. Honestly the reason we follow God is because as Christians we are following the example of Christ. He directed all to follow his Father.
By the way, if you wish you may set up an account at http://www.360.yahoo.com and share your beliefs to your hearts content. However this is Yahoo! Answers. You ask a question or give an answer.
Hope this helps.

You are right Jehovah has given all authority to his son Jesus, yet Jesus is still not above Jehovah(1Corinthians11:3 ; John20:17 ; Revelation1:6) Jesus is not an herrand boy, he is God's right hand man, he is second in command, beside Jehovah God, not equaql or above.

Ironically, the annual convention series of Jehovah's Witnesses for Summer 2007 was themed "Follow the Christ".
It seems rather small-minded to suppose that following God and following Christ would involve divergent paths. While the Father and the Son are distinct persons, they always work in perfect harmony.
(John 8:12-18) Jesus spoke again to them, saying: “I am the light of the world. He that follows me will by no means walk in darkness, but will possess the light of life.” Hence the Pharisees said to him: “You bear witness about yourself... Jesus said to them: “Even if I do bear witness about myself, my witness is true... I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me. Also, in your own Law it is written, ‘The witness of two men is true.’ I am one that bears witness about myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness about me.”
