Are there any LDS church members who can explain to me how the atonement of our lord and savior Jesus Christ can give us strength when your faith and prayers and the power of the priesthood do not heal you from an affliction, the power of the Atonement will surely give you the strength to bear the burden?

The atonement is wonderful thing if you will let it into your life. i had to go go Richard G. Scott to put into words on how to let this happen in your life. enjoy and use it in your life.

The belief that gives you strength is that Christ is God. Only the indwelling Holy Spirit can give you that belief. Apart from that there are many reasons why healing does not take place:
1/ Disobedience/ Rebellion
2/ Lack of knowledge
3/ Lack of faith
4/ Unbelief
5/ Unconfessed sin (eg anger)
6/ Un-forgiveness
7/ Occult involvement (especially Secret societies)
8/ Curses
9/ Rejection
10/ Fear
11/ Ungodly soul ties
12/ Sickness caused by demonic activity

Our faith and prayers are as effective as any Christian's faith and prayers.
And the power of the priesthood is how the Biblical apostles healed, and it's how we heal.

The atonement is (from what I understand) where Christ took on the sins of the world (Gethsemane), was crucified as the final perfect sacrifice for those sins (Calvary), and rose again from the dead so we can also have eternal life.

Read about what Christ went through in Gethsemane.

He prayed to god that he wouldn't have to go through with it, but that wasn't the Lords will.

In "the lords prayer" he teaches us that we should pray for what we may, but remember that we want his will to be done.

The Atonement can and will help you to endure the things that the Lord sees fit for you to endure.
