because they are so insecure about themselves. many people like to feel that they know something that others dont know. it makes them feel superior... they get done trashing you, they walk away, take a deep breathe, smile and truely think they have accomplished something!!! when all they did was repeat what was drilled into their heads growing up.... BRAIN WASHING!!!

~~ most think they have all the right
answers. this is what they have been taught.
some almost never read the word of God,
they have heard teachers tell what they
know from the text that is given to them.
i feel we must look at each of them as
lambs, not needing the meat of the word.
they need the milk, for christians will
follow most any leader. everyone should
respect the others belief and just sow a
few seeds. if the ground is fertile the seed
will take root.
we are all just farmers and by
spreading the word with love and all
the time knowing, this could be us,
just babes in Christ. ~~

I'm a christian and I know the type of people you are referring to and I think its a personality thing more than a religious issue. Some people are easily offended and get defensive. Just like if you tell someone in the sports section that their team is doing bad. You have the people will say, "Oh why do you think so?" and the people who will say "You don't know anything about sports you're ignorant my team is the best."

Because the scriptures they read say some harsh stuff. Well not really but they interpret it as saying harsh stuff. If one goes back and reads the words of Jesus without anything else and without some jacked up theologian telling you what he really means you'll get a better happier story than they believe.

Still some of them are misanthropes like some Atheist are misanthropes and if the world turned fundamentalist Christian but they remained as powerless as they are even though everyone agreed with them they would convert to something else to justify their social view, to explain why they are outside, how they are right and everyone else is wrong. It's not a mater of faith its a matter of psychology.

This is what I posted to a Christian question that was similar to yours (the guy pulled his question).

Well I have often wondered this on R&S. However, the sword cuts both ways. There have been many who call themselves Christian on here that are very hateful.

Possibly a better question would be, Why do people (of every belief) resort to hateful words and violence when they don't know why they believe as they do.

In many debates when one side runs out of pre-packaged answers, they resort to name calling, shouting down, and other such actions

#1 The Bible is the only right way..#2 Christians dont intentially want to make you feel so little. I am a Christian, and I wish everyone could accept Christ so that they could see the Kingdom that has been prepared for them. They do it out of love whether it feels that way at the time or not. That feeling you get is there for a reason, they are trying to get you to think about eternity and where you want to spend it. They don't want you to feel shitty, and I am truly sorry that some have made you feel this way. I hope this helps..

I think you'll find that there some of any... call it a "spiritual persuasion" to include atheists and agnostics - who feel it necessary to ridicule those who believe differently. I don't really understand the mindset, but I think it's not dissimilar to the tendency of children to make fun of those who are different. One way to make yourself feel better about yourself is to better yourself. Another is to denigrate those around you. The first is, I think, preferable, but the second is generally easier.

As you have free voice and feelings to air they have also have their voice.

Actually what one should do is we should not hurt the feelings of others by giving statement about someone whom we does not know.

If you know about Jesus do give statement as far as you know Him. If you don't know Him then don't give statement about Him at all.

If you want to know Him then put a question in a polite way.

All can understand the nature of the question that how the person is and what is his motive behind the question.

I see your problem, you try to fool people in order to avoid confrontation. Then when you say too much, people catch you in your 'act'.

Try being honest. You don't know a lot about these things. No matter what you claim about yourself, if you talk to the right person they will see where you are at in the development of what you say you are.

You are lying about who you are though, it's your fault! They are seeing who you really are, the mask you put on is not fooling them.

That is not only Christians and I might add not many of us to that.To say something derogatory about Jesus is not necessary.if you have different beliefs say I do not believe ,no
need for ridicule and insults.

It's all part & parcel of the requirements of their belief structure. "If you're not for me, then you are for them"; "If you don't believe / think / fart / walk / blink as I do, you are evil".

They've been (easily) indoctrinated into these beliefs and feel you should be like they are..for THEIR own good.
