hi, i heard that if you put your hair up in a really high pony tail and cut straight across then when you put it down u get choppy layers,

im going to the hairdressers to get it cut into choppy layers but if that way works then i might just do that myself instead, anyway has any one done it ? does it work and do u have any pics of what it came out like ??

No!
Dont cut your hair
Thats the worst hair experience anyone can do with their own hair
Trust me
I've been there, done that, regretted it.

Go to the hairdressers and say you want choppy layers, trust me, you will not regret it

As a trained hairdresser myself, i know how these things work
Putting it high up and cutting along wont make it come out in layers you think it would
Because all your strands are different sizes, so one clump could amount very short and the other could go really edgy

So go to the hairdressers

Yes. this is a basic layered look....i have done it many times in my 54 yrs on Earth. BUT...now a days they teach cosmetologists better ways to do 'choppy layers' and they have better scissors and razor cutters with choppy edges for different layered looks, so now I pay the $35. to go and let the experts do their thing. It is better, depending on what you do in life and what your expectations are. If you are a housewife and home with small kids and have limited extra $$$, then by all means do the high poney tail, layered look. BTW~~high ponytail means use the top of your ears as the ponytail height, no higher. If you have a professional outside the home job and the extra $$$ to go to a salon and get 'choppy layered' then let them do it. I wish I had the pix to send you, but I've been doing it since before computers even existed. You need good scissors that are sharp to do a good job. don't use your kids school scissors that have been cutting paper....the sharper scissors, the better the outcome. I was a cosmetologist prior to nursing school, so I had scissors that cost me $160.00 (those are the fairly inexpensive ones, too).
Good luck and if you do it, let me know how it turned out. You might let a friend do the cutting....or a husband/boyfriend...just easier to do.

Hi One day I decided I wanted rid of my waist length hair so I tied it back into a LOW pony and cut it off....the overall effect was the 'pob' but I dont advise you to do this as it really does need neatening up afterwards. Definitely dont put it into a high pony as that would leave you with very short bits on top of your head!!
p.s after I cut it myself, I had it neatened up and then decided to go with a shror cropped look. 2 years later I have now got healthy shoulder length hair (mine does grow really quick because I have chopped it all off once before and it took 4 years to go to my waist). I'm never gonna have short hair again....twice was too much..made me feel a bit unfeminine having very short hair. The 'pob' is gorgeous though.

DO NOT DO THIS!!

This can sometimes lead to a un-desired effect some layers will be to short and will stick out at the top of your head.

TRUST ME: I did this once and my hair turned out a disaster then my friend tried her hair turned out really bad to we ended up getting our hair in boy-cuts!!

In all honesty...i just wouldn't. I mean, tidy up your own hair cut with some little sharp scissors...BUT LEAVING THE CUT AND STYLE TO A PROFESSIONAL. Do you want to look like your lil brother cut your hair? NO

I have pretty lengthy hair, I like them but I think I would have them reduce short in about some two yrs

i might say basically on or somewhat over the shoulders in case you easily desire the ponytail to stay in thoroughly. I had my hair decrease to easily above my shoulders a pair of years in the past and there replaced into bits of hair falling out of my ponytail each and all of the time so i comprehensive up having to clip them back in. desire this helped. xx :)

Usually, that's too long for me. I believe it depends on the guy and his face though. Certain guys may pull off long hair and others can't.

If you bend right over and brush your hair straight down and then cut it you will get a natural layer.

Don't do it. Go to a salon and have it done professionally. Yes it will give you layers but it will need to be tidied up otherwise it will look a complete mess.
