I think he will eventually get his way. He could persuade the neighbors not to re-elect the city council with $$$.

Can Bruton Smith be considered a "terrorist"? If he doesn't get what he wants, he throws a temper tantrum. Building a drag strip in the location he wants is just stupid. Where in the world does that 50% come from? Concord isn't some small hick town with nothing but a race track. If Bruton thinks he can find land and move the track, let him go ahead and try. Find it hard to understand why anyone would side with Bruton on this one.

There are a lot of people in Concord who make their living from NASCAR or Lowe's Motor Speedway--at least 50%, and the rest depend on the economy Smith's business brings them.
That will be the deciding factor. Would Concord be better off without the NASCAR economy? Money and business will win out.
People buy property and build houses near an airport, or motor speedway, just so they can complain. If they get it shut down it makes them happy because they feel like a real life activist.

He is a very astute business man. I don't think he wants to move the track anymore than Concord wants to have it moved. I think it is just a tactic to use in the negotiations. Like in baseball, when an owner threatens to move a team if they don't get a new stadium.

Hate him or Love him, he is Nascar's Mr Money Bags...and he normally gets his way.....Afterall, in this world money talks...Sure he can find plenty of dirt around Mooresville, but the track needs to stay right where it is... I'm sure he will get his way....
