This is what I have gathered from some answers from this Yahoo Answers and from sources elsewhere.

It seems to me that many people are extremely proud of their country's army. This is understandable because the army of a country symbolise its strength and its might.

However, is there anyone who don't really like the army or do not like it very much? I can't possibly believe everyone in this world likes the army and its way of life?

Why would you not like the army or be in the army? Is there any particular reason? Is it because it is too tough and the people there too rough? Is it because you prefer other things?

Mind sharing your thoughts?

I'm an ex-Navy Veteran. I liked my service.

I wouldn't want to be in the Army because it isn't my Navy.

That and I didn't have a bunch of crazy religious people trying to blow me up when I was underwater in my submarine, now did I?

g-day!

My husband was in REME and enjoyed it more than University.
He reckons I wouldn't have "lasted" because I don't have the right mental attitude or discipline and too fond of saying "why?"
I did respond to a card which dropped through our door a few months ago "Would you like to join the Army?" or something similar. Sent it back and received a letter saying "You're too old"! Cheek! I really fancied a smart army green uniform since it's the "in" colour this year.
I think some people have the right mind set for a disciplined army life, others are just destined to be supporters.

The military including the Army is a drastic lifestyle change. Most people that first join up don't realize how different their life will become. It is a serious job/lifestyle and not a video game that you can just turn off.

Some realize the seriousness of their decision at basic, some realize the seriousness of their decision on that C130 ride from Kuwait to Iraq, and yet others still don't realize the seriousness of their decision until that first bullet/rocket fly past their head then they know it is for real.

It is not for everyone, but believe me I know some people that love being in the military. They love being trigger pullers, blowing stuff up, and being part of the sword edge where the fight is.

In the simplest possible terms: the reason I dislike all armies is because they kill people. Usually when an individual kills someone it is wrong and the crime is called murder or homicide. However when an army, on behalf of its' nation, kills hundreds, thousands and occasionally millions, the country that sent them to war rejoice in the "victory" and the killing is perceived as just.
The murder of masses, be they solders or not, is routinely celebrated as being indicative of the army, and by association the country, being superior to and thus more deserving of life and prosperity than their defeated foes.
Nearly the whole planet buys into this nonsense. And before somebody mentions the supposedly peaceful Buddhists - they should go read the history of Japan during the 16th and 17th centuries, and ask Nobunaga Oda if he thought the Buddhists were a nice, quiet bunch of pacifists.

Well clearly joining the Army puts you at risk for things like injuries, losing limbs, vision/hearing loss, post traumatic stress, and of course death. These should be at the top of anybody's list for not wanting to join.

Beyond that, you're in an instituion where your behavior is forcably controlled. As you said, it's 'hard' work especially if you go in as an enlisted man. The pay isn't really that great unless you make a career out of it.

Like anything else, there are a series of pros and cons to consider before joining. The best thing you can do is be aware of what you're getting yourself into.

Remember, the military recruiters are paid per person they get to sign up. There is an incentive for them to hire as many people as they can. Can you imagine how this might affect their methods?

Aint Ready for Marines Yet.
I'm a Marine, technically a former Marine, we never liked the army much because of it's lack of basic discipline. I heard they have improved, but I still don't want to join.

From a political point, you can complain about the government all you want, but you can't complain about the military, they are doing a great job.

When an army is used to defend our country and it acts with respect for others and within the scope of international law then I take my hat off to them, but when they are used as porns in Political games - like the Iraq incident - I dispise the army for the countless crimes they comit under our government of war criminals - strong words?? - do your research like I did.

some people work well when they constantly have others telling them what to do and how to do it. others do not. i personally hate the army because you get pushed and kicked around and you have NO say in it whatsoever. i was told the army was something different when it wasnt. i feel betrayed personally, but i digress. if you have a problem with authority then you wont like the army. at least until you have a lot of rank that is. total control is not my cup of tea, but a lot of others like it
