My mother was an illeagal for years before becomming a US citizen. I am well aware of who I am and what brought me here. I am just sick and tired of being put into some category that I am not Mexican enough for some of you. I have studied my heritage intensly, and my roots to Mexico are very close to my heart. By this I mean my Family. My father and his father served USA in times of war, this is my right and honor to fly the only flag that has brought prosperity to my family's name. I have never been ashamed of being of Mexican decent. Trust me, I am doing what I can to make it here in the USA. I dont say that it has always been fair for Mexicans here in USA, but we fought for generations and we are here. My father and grand parents comes from the ZOOT SUIT Generation. They stood up to the local governments in Los Angeles. I claim the flag as my own because my family fought for it and it is just as much ours as any other American.

Every should be proud of their ancestry/roots, regardless of where their ancestors came from. Not to be mean or anything but I really have to say that the Mexicans are not any more special than people of other ethnicities. Others also went through the same things as you did. Many people have problems with the Mexicans(illegals) not because of their origins but because of the vast amount of damages and ruins to this society that they have done. If you want to argue about why the focus on Mexicans, well, there simply are too many of them trying to make even more babies that they expect the government to raise for them.

What flag are you referring. I hope it's old GLory.
As for if your Mexican enough, you are. We all carry part of the memory of every member of our family that came before us. We have the option to pick and choose what part of our heritage to carry and those to toss out I hope that we pick the one that makes us a better person and characteristic that would improve our society. I found often times people pick those that is opposite of that. I do believe we must make concession to the society we live in. That what ever choices we make must be for the common good of the community. That if we pick anything from a different culture than what we live in , we must becareful that it does not clash with the culture we live in. As for your fight, and the fight for your family, I hope it's a fight for equality, not for revenge. My family also fought in LA for equality, and have many injustice done to them, so you are not alone in your struggles. I have found when the tables are turned, we become what we fought against.

Hi, I'm first generation Mexican and I say you are as Mexican as they come. It's just a part of who you are. I agree with Slew, seems like you have picked the best traits of Mexicanity as well as the best of Americanness. You should be proud of both flags (I'd never fly the Mexican flag here because I wouldn't like any body's flag flown in Mexico and it's a sign of respect). It's just part of you, your family, your roots, no one can take that away from you. I now have children here, my husband is an American born citizen of Irish and German descent and he's just as proud of that. In this country all we have is our family and ancestors to cling to history as it doesn't really have a common homogeneous past that applies for everyone. So I say hold on to that! I hope to pass the Mexican roots to my children as much as I can and then set them free to live and chose whatever they want. Being Mexican and American is just part of them as it's part of you...
Bigger than that even, we are all people, many of us just want the same things as everybody else, to be happy with our families. If we can see that in everybody and past the nationalities we'll discover we are all one people and hopefully learn to get along better with EVERYBODY.
Felicidades! que edad tiene tu bebe? los mios tienen 8 meses y tres años.

You are Mexican enough, you recognize your roots and you are not ashamed of the place were you came from. I think someone is not Mexican enough when they change their names from Esperanza to Espy, Josue to Joshua or Maria to Mary, or omit their last names, for example Hernandez they pronounce it as Her nandez. sh.it like that
by the way, my name is Kimberly..yeah I know hahaha..but blame that to my mom, I was born here anyway
I was not born in Mexico but my parents were, I lived there and proud to be Mexican- American
God bless America y Arriba Mexico Cabro.nes!!!

The Mexican blood does not disappear but the allegiance to the US can be revoked. Most of the Mexicans are only in the US for money.
