Think of better without vilifying it .
Many great thinkers past and present have thought beyond the primitive adolescent society . The human neurosis does not have to be a permanent condition .live and learn.
you asked so i'll take the trouble to clue you . Sigmund Freud,
Arthur C Clark , Thomas Jefferson , Benjamin Franklin. Buddha ,Confucius ,Richard Dawkins, Stephen Weinberg,
the history of religion from 2300bc Egypt to the present.

Agnostic, but anyway...

I think I have MORE time to do things other than "believe" because I am agnostic. I don't concern myself with belief, so I have more time to read and analyze things. I have a lot more free time because I don't have to go to church, so I spend that time going to school and discussing issues (like religion). So, I think it is BECAUSE I believe the way I do that I do have things better to do with my time.

I'm still somewhat new to the forums, but I think it is customary to take a drink when a question like this pops up.

Cheers.

I think that is the better way of spending time.
I don't sit around and wonder "Am I going to hell" for something I did wrong.
I don't sit around wondering if I'm bad or good in Gods eyes.
I don't waste my time going to church and listen to some nut job preach.
I don't believe there's some paradise called heaven up in thr clouds.
I don't waste my time praying to somebody I've never seen before.

What has your religion done for you?

I believe in good things-kindness,respect,veganism,loyalty etc and i have high morals, i just don't follow 'a' religion.I agree with alot of different 'bits' of various religions regarding the way to be-for example-the ten commandments but that's as far as it goes. It's nothing to do with 'better things to do with my time'.Being good and kind should surely be the most important thing.

i believe that atheism is not the best alternative of theism.
i am free of any beliefs that people may impose.
our ancestors believed that there is a being w/c is more than us,humans.they consider it as god.
you just have no right to throw bad compliment to those who dont believe that there is no god. its there own choice of belief.
i am a freethinker! i dont believe in both. its just that we are living in a world full of beliefs, and let us respect each other.
if they (atheists) find it mature and it can improve their self-worth, WHY NOT!

A better way to believe? What makes you think your way is better than ours? That's a pretty ignorant, poorly worded question.

Not believing in god wastes a lot less of my time than believing in god would. No need to go to a religious institution - no need to waste fuel - better for the environment etc. etc. etc.

I find myself drawn to something that the science fiction writer Heinlein once wrote, where beliefs form rules and rules lead to this statement:

“I will accept any rules that you feel necessary to your freedom. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.” ~ Robert A. Heinlein
