Approach them with pork and cash receipt, alongwith a written complaint, for a refund or replacement. Give them warning that if this is repeated, you will report to the concerned authorities. If they do not accept your complaint, DO NOT leave the out of date pork with them and report the matter to the local municipal health authorities and hand over the pork to them. They will take the supermarket to task.

If you still have your receipt contact the trading standards. Despite whether you checked the date or not the meat shouldn't have been on the shelf, and they won't turn round and say " you should have checked the date" Trust me i work in a supermarket. depending on the person you are you could get alot of money from this or just learn from your mistakes like suggested. But be careful in future as i know of someone who died of food poisoning.

do you mean getting new meat or money back? jsut take the meat and reciept back and complain to the manager.

what do you mean tackle though? like sueing or somthing?
in this case, sueing a large company is not only very difficult, but often doesnt end up hurting the people behind it...they simply end up having to, not even close the company down really, but maybe chnge the name or somthing. getting the people at fault is so unlikely to happen, all you are likely to do is get a whole ot of peiople who were just doing their job, fired...id just settle for getting some new food or money back n shop elsewhere

Could it be also said you bought out-of-date pork ?

Don't tackle them, learn from your mistake and check the dates defore you buy.

environmental health will not be interested unless its cuased an illness.

People make mistakes, as you have done, so why not just let it go.

personaly i would in form the local authority and then go see the manager of the store to tell him he is selling out of date food and give him time to check his stock,he may have been sold it out of date in the first place by his supplier, its in a chain and somewere along the line a lot of people will have bought it ,either from the store or the stores from distributer.
you also have to learn by this...always check dates, and inform the shop if you see out of date food before someone buys it,don't just hope they notice.

Depends which country you are in. Here in the UK you could take it to Trading Standards who would get it sorted for you. Or even to the Environmental Health dept of the local council.

Go to customer service and be extremely polite, take it back as quickly as possible, they will reimburse you without a problem.

If you go in and kick off I don't think it would get you very far and you only end up embarrassing yourself do it the nice way, -- we all make mistakes.

Contact the local weights and measures people, or environmental health - they have the clout to make a difference.
If you don't want to make a scene and just want your money back, go back with the product unopened and your receipt and I'm sure they'll be really nice to you to avoid you making a scene....
