There is no way to know unless you meet each other and actually fall in love with reality. Right now it is all fantasy, because either one of you could be lying to the other about the person that you really are.

Well one thing I can say is having an online relationship is not a way to go. bf of 4 months dumped me last week and then told me he cheated with him roommate (girl), so that didn't go so well. Sorry if I didn't give the best advice, but at least it's a story.
Moral: Don't fall too hard for the one you think you love. You might get your heart broken, no matter what they say and how much they say they love you.

age gaps or being callmates or finding yourself compatible with each other doesn't assure you of a lasting relationship! there are marriages doomed after years of years of being together...trying to fill up the missing block in a relationship that suddenly gone sour.
i wouldn't even believe in soulmates or the term 'perfect mate'. actually, the essence of a relationship depends on the giving of self with each other. the sharing of life (joys, sorrows, sufferings, endeavors, fulfillment...) and there must be an open line in between as not to choke each other to the limits. choking each other turns relationships sour...
be careful of sweet talks and i am certain that you've been doing that since you're only callmates. sweet talks tickles even the hardest part of your soul and mind. it brings you to a certain elevation of excitement and doubt...
it would be nicer if you see each other in person and find out if the love magic works!

It depend on the fate...
all things will happen in this world...
when the time the things become worse just accept it....
a promise is really not last forever,....
Take me as an example....
my girl has been wait me for nearly 4 years....
but what she does lastly...
break up with me because she is dating with other guy....
this really make me sucks....
but what can i do...although we have a lot of fun times,.... when she is sad i cannot be there for her....care her....
Trust me.....The things that are belong to you....is yours,......
dont press ur self for the promise......
just a pieces of lies....

Please dont burden yourself with promises. Let things happen the way its written. If you need to get back then you will get back. Dont do things because it sounds great to do it now. If you both really love each other then destiny will bring you back together.

nothing else matters if you two are ok with each other. good luck, go for it. but as it seems to be a long distance relationship, you have to be very careful and think a lot before taking any decision.
