1. That it could not possibly be accurate because these events occurred long before my book was written and I was not even there to witness them?
2. That it could not possibly be a true account because other earlier cultures have similar accounts and surely I copied these and put my own interpretation on them?
3. That the history of the Roman Empire has been corrupted by so many different accounts and translations?

Yes, especially if they didn't want to believe that the Roman Empire existed.
