And if you do, where do you draw the line? Do you think all animals have souls but not insects- you get the picture.

I am not religious but am spiritual-I tend to think that we all have something of a soul, maybe a presence on the other side that somehow equals our life form here. Maybe the spiritual version of a thinner soul for lesser life forms.

HHmm-maybe I just need some sleep: ) but still I can't imagine an afterlife without my family and my doggies.

You know....this topic brought something to my thinking of something that I experienced from my having to put my late Golden Retriever, Jessie to sleep this past April...

I believe they do.

I believe that my last dog of a couple dogs before her was supposed to be born to me as a human child.

Since I avoided that karmic theme for one reason or another
in this lifetime, the soul of that child who should have been born to me had to take the form of dogs in order to live out their karmic themes with me.
And, in order for me to live out my karmic theme with her.

Not only do I believe dogs have souls, I also believe they are
here to learn, grow, master lessons and challenges and evolve just like human beings.

I also believe their lives are purposeful and meaningful and
that they are teachers in their own right. The biggest lesson of all that I was taught by Jessie, was to love unconditionally.

Whether my late pet and I belong to the same soul group or not is not that important although it comforts me to think that we do.

I like to think that we belong together somehow, for then
loving and letting go of each and every one of them when the
time comes won’t be so painful.

It’s a nice thought that we are brought together this lifetime for
a purpose and that when we each leave this lifetime, we shall
continue to somehow be there for one another.

Recent events have been putting my life’s philosophy, beliefs
and value systems to the test.

At 47, I happen to hold more theories about life than I did
when I was younger so it would follow that I would feel more tested on my beliefs and value systems now, than when I was younger.

We all more or less know of the gap between theory and practice.

It’s only when we are tested do we really find out whether
we are able to apply our knowledge and theories about life.
So yes, I do want to believe that dogs have souls.

I don't have a line. This planet is full of souls.

To me, we kill rocks when we pulverize them and make them into concrete.

Of course dogs have souls! They dream, laugh, get insulted, have pride, cry and everything.

My dog likes to go to work with me. He also behaves differently when he has a new haircut, or if he's wearing his favorite t shirt. He understands everything I tell him, including to hurry up and poop if I'm too tired to go for a long walk. Of course he's got a soul. His is bigger than some people's souls, as he is compassionate, warm, and gets along well with babies (he won't lick them, just sniff and nuzzle a little).

Trees have souls, too. They whisper, rustle, and so on When they're happy they hold onto the dead leaves longer, in my opinion. Ever see them angry? The roots buckle up out of the earth! Ever been cussed out by a squirrel? They'll do it if you startle them. They have souls, too.

Cats, elephants and whales have the most sophisticated souls, I think. Lots more layers to those creatures than humans have, for sure. You never know what will make a cat happy. Elephants can be so gentle for such big creatures. Whales manage to communicate (and dance) with no arms or legs.

Whoever said that only humans have souls was probably stunted in their ability to perceive soulfulness.

All God's chillun got soul!

each and each and each little thing you spot around which has life has a soul. So specific, dogs have a soul too. In hinduism, there's a concept that a soul takes sixty 4 births. And after the sixty fourth beginning it attains salvation. And till now sixty 4 births if God's grace has been showered on the soul ie if the soul proves itself to be worth of it. The beginning cycle starts off with the soul taking beginning because of the fact the decrease point creatures and at last in the direction of the top as people. it is, the soul is first born as vegetation, then as small bugs, as larger insect, as small animals etc. Souls which section the physique arent lost. Its merely that they have got been blessed via God and have been extra advantageous to a extra robust point of life. So extremely of feeling unhappy to your pets, experience happy and thank God as now they may well be born as nevertheless superior and bigger animals or people itself. Sounds probable humorous, yet once you have the religion, you will experience certainly happy for them. For we would continually % the suited for the those whom we like. jointly with your words this is obvious you enjoyed your pets. So be happy for them as they have have been given a boon from God! God Bless! Cheers! :) §Flame Of Recca§

I love animals myself, but no, animals do not have a spirit like humans do. When the Bible says that God created man in His image, that's what is meant by that - God is a spirit being that is eternal. We likewise have an immortal spirit component. Animals have a *soul* (as we do also). Your soul is composed of your emotions, feelings, intellect, your mind. This shouldn't be confused with our spirit, which is something totally different - I think a lot of people think the two are one in the same, but they're actually not. Animals have this soul (but not a spirit), on a somewhat simpler level, with less self-awareness. (A human knows s/he is a human, and where being a human puts you in the overall scheme of things. By contrast, a dog doesn't really know that it's a "dog", in relation to the rest of the universe)

Animals are not spiritual beings like us. God didn't make them that way. That is why animals cannot sin - they have no sense of right or wrong.

Yes, they do but not the same as humans. All living creatures have souls. Plants have what are called vegetative souls, which enable them to grow and reproduce. Animals have what are called sensitive souls, which allow them to feel. Humans have what are called rational souls, which allow us to engage in thought. Only the latter kind of soul survives death.

All natural things have souls (a spirit ensouling them), from humans (animals) to and including rocks. The consciousness and wisdom of the souls can vary but we are all here to learn and evolve. Humans have developed a conscious souls, but we generally lack wisdom. An old tree is wise, but not conscious in our terms. In order to communicate with other souls you have to still yourself and try to think in their terms.

Well, hi. You and me, and all other living humans are "living souls", so yes, a dog is a living soul.

When we die we got back to our ground and our thoughts perish. Our spirits, or "life force" goes back to its maker for judgment at Armageddon---- to God, but our souls are dead and conscious of nothing.

Animals, when they die, their souls, them are just six feet under. There is no remittance of their spirit back to God. I had a hard time swallowing this when I first was shown this in the Bible but it makes sense. I love animals!

Yea all life seems to have a soul. Just yesterday I made a friend with a small moth. I stopped myself from squeshing it and sent it positive energy, and about 15mins later in a different room I found it sitting next to me, it then proceeded to jump on me and sit on me for about 10mins in various spots resting until I told it to go fly and gently blew it off.... freaky stuff.

I don't know for sure. But they are God's creatures so I don't see why not! Whats amazing about Dogs is: They do have feelings! And they seem to be able to sense things before they happen. I have 2 dogs. I love them! I can't understand why there are people who actually abuse these wonderful God given creatures.
