My black lab had been missing since friday, and today we got a call that she was at a animal shelter two countys away, and had been there since friday.
So we picked her up and she was very excited and happy to see us, but something seemed wrong.

She seems deppressed, and won't really eat. Shes useally pretty playful, but not today.

Is she just getting over the stress of what happend, or does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks.

Has she had a full vet check over. Many things can happen to do when out and about by themselves. It could be a simple as her eaten something that is sitting well with her. Some dogs also struggle to relax in an environment such as a shelter, and may just be exhausted from being anxious while waiting at the shelter.

If you feel that she is lethargic or see any vomiting, diarrhea or she shows signs of pain such as restlessness, whimpering etc... take her to the vet for a check up.

Hope she's ok! You must be thrilled to have her home.

It's hard to say if she was at the animal shelter where I live she could be seriously sick.
\Wehre I live the animals ore locked in cages. they have had parvo and distemper several times and at least twice a year they fail the monthly stae inspections.
Lat Dec. it was in the paper the head animal control didn't even see a probelm with this dog they had up for adoption BUT it was nothing but skin and bones and had a broken pelvis.
I would just go to the vets
I hope it's just the stress but why wait and find out.

Just be easy on her, give her time. Spend more time lying around beside her and talk to her gently and stroke her fur. Try to check if she's been hurt or have some wounds that may need some medical attention. Dogs have feelings. All dog lovers know that.

if it continues, I would get her checked. It may just be the stress of what happened, she may not have slept much all weekend, probably paced her cage at the pound and was scared with all the other barking dogs, not knowing where she was. Could be she's just happy to be home and re-couping from her adventure.

Maybe she is just trying to lay low after taking off on her excursion. She might not want to move for fear of ending up in the pound again.
