I see people congratulating to each other when someone converts to some religion, so I'm thinking why don't I give it a shout out? I used to be very religious, brainwashed by the dogma .... well, we don't want to go into that now :P Let's just say that I've come to my senses and have come to terms with my mortality. I have accepted that I better get my lazy bu** and make something of my life, for that's the only way to cure my mortality.
Can I get a hug now? I've (r)evolved! ~grins~

St Lucifer, when I was a practising Muslim, they didn't like it very much. I think they will like this one though.

HUGS..... and another HUG... the world is evolving.. we are born in a time where little spiritual truth exists.. it's a time of constant confusion and fight just to be normal... we have gotten over a big hurddle... nature acts... things change (we call it evolution) nature settles then acts again and things change... nature has been doing a lot of changing this past century and the massive changes in human behavior are the result... changes in equity... like equality between men and women... equality and acceptance of other race and cultures.. more rights for the individual... and the move to fight for peace on earth... these are also parts of evolution.. and evolution (nature is getting better and stronger against religion... it's slow but it's also here and getting better ... no turning back now... religions will some day be a thing of the past... we just have to keep holding out against it, to help out.
the purpose of life ... be the best person you know how to be, enjoy what nature has to offer.. and in times of change chose a battle you can win or help with easily.. something that suits your character... we all must fight to keep the freedoms that nature has won for us ... the more of us that do it the faster nature wins.

Well, I (loud sound as I narrowly avoid falling off my chair) applaud your decision to think for yourself. At best, religion is only something to point a beginner in the direction of goodness and as we all know, religion is rarely at its best.
Here is a hug:
((((Poppy))))
Two related notes: Religion is often an extreme system for coping with life and trying to do what is right. Rejection of one extreme often involves a major backswing to the opposite extreme. Watch out for the backswing. Many people who reject religion will go through a phase when they examine their feelings about goodness and badness, often trying many of the things that their old, religious self would have thought were "bad things", just to prove to themselves that they have really changed, that God won't strike them down with lightening, to impress their new, anti-religious friends and so on.
Be YOU. Turn away from religion to be MORE YOURSELF. Don't exchange one irrational belief for an opposite one.
And...as difficult as this may be to understand...there are many truly good religious people in the world who cling to religion because it helps them be people who LOVE. Turning away from religion DOES NOT mean turning away from being a loving person.
If you want support from me, that's the kind of support I'm going to offer. I'm non-religious, but I'm not exactly an atheist either. I believe in love, kindness, hope and good stuff because good stuff lives inside me.
Good stuff lives inside YOU too. Bring it out, sister!
(((((more hugs)))))

I'm not an atheist (just a severe agnostic) but you definitely get lots of hugs and back pats from me!
If you're looking for someone to 'make it happen' you better look in the mirror, because Moses, Jesus, and Mohammad ain't there, and nobody can do it but YOU.
Doesn't that make you feel wonderful??? That's what it did for me! I don't need any of those lame, over a thousand year old fussbudgets to float my boat!

I congratulate you for figuring it out for yourself! I think everyone should do that, not take someone's word for it or believe what you are told to believe. I am more or less agnostic because I really dont' -know-. But like you I realize what I make of life is really up to me. So I think it's great that you've decided to take control of your own life! Bravo!

Good for you! I am proud of you. Now the trick is to educate people in the same manner you were educated. You need to try to get people to see what you see. Also Check out my website www.pathofreason.com
