Don't let it get to you man. It runs both ways, Christians disrespect Atheists, Atheists disrespect Christians thats the way it is. The only time I'm disrespectful is if the persons question is disrespectful. It takes respect to receive respect. It's not just atheists ALL people in general can be disrespectful you're just putting a stereotype on us.
EDIT: Take Malaki's answer for example. I rest my case.

Certainly the atheists that you have communicated with may have been rude, but it does not mean that atheists in general are rude. Each individual is their own person. Some are rude some aren't. I know my personal experience is that I have met extremely rude atheists and Christians. However, I have experienced also that the atheists I know are a bit more open to discussing deep spiritual things such as talking about the existence of God. It really just all depends on the individual you are talking to. It has nothing to do with what or who they identify themselves with.

Is the truth rude when it disagrees ? then it's you 'll personal problem . My opinion is and will remain that people who believe in the supernatural, little green man ,and think they can beat the house in Las Vegas are wack. Sorry if my honesty is you're idea of rudeness but you don't exactly
recant your opinions to me either . And most theists on this line are far more disrespectful than I would ever be . I've always been as kind as I could without surrendering the facts to what I call fantasy . So if respecting knowledge is rude then rude is good. Most of what i've said is only a consume of the great thinkers of our time restated in a coherently confluent manner . I don't figure all this out on my own I research it through the library the bible is only a small contribution in light of what is available . If great minds think alike should I give more credit to a handful of moralist that claim divinity or hundreds that claim to be human...?
peace and happiness shouldn't wait for eternity .

It depends on the person you are talking to. Yes, I have met atheists that have been very rude, but I have known many that don't believe in god but are very interested in religion and discussing religion and researching it. They are very intellectual and respectual towards other religions. To be fair...I have also met christians who are EXTREMELY rude in talking about religion and are very disrespectful as well. I personally have been on both sides of the spectrum so I have a alot of experience from both (i am now neither christian nor athiest..though i am not agnostic, i do have spiritual beliefs). In my experience people were MUCH more rude when I was athiest than when I was christian. I am sick of people constantly attacking each other's religious views--no matter what their religion. People need to keep their religious views to themselves and stop judging others. Everybody in the world thinks they are right about their beliefs....thats WHY they are their beliefs! I think I am right about my beliefs...but I am not going to judge you or any one else who believes in something different than I do. There are no certain answers. But I have met some of the most intellectual people who are atheists, and some incredibly rude atheists who are usually very uneducated in other religions. I have also met very spiritual, warm-hearted christians, and christians who were also ignorant of other religions that were disrespectful to others. Maybe you christians and atheists have more in common than you realize....

I am an atheist. It's not all atheists that are rude. Those that have actually taken the time and come to the conclusion that god does not exist and are truly atheist aren't rude. They are generally well thought scientific individuals.
Those who have chosen to be an atheist because they "don't have time" or "don't care" are usually just immature rude kids and young adults without a single thought about anyone else's feelings. I think these people with a lack of religion are far too often considering themselves atheist

Atheists like to think they are fair-minded and that those who believe in religion are close-minded. But it's really both that are close-minded. Atheists need to realize that they aren't tolerant of people who are different from them and believers need to realize that not everyone sees things their way. It's the passion for the cause that manifests itself as rudeness on both sides. But it'll be the one who reaches out with kindness and consideration who begins the dialog and communication to bridge the differences and get to understanding.

Ya it's true I actually think i see more atheists on here than theists, there's just always an ongoing argument about religion it seems. So atheists and theists alike both just kinda jump into attack mode whenever talking about religion.

if you were red in the rainbow what would you see and what would you not see?
you would see all the other colors but you would not see red cause you are looking out at the other colors
atheists are sarcastic and mostly funny to most of us but I always see Christians take offense
this is not so much your fault as a side effect of thinking you are worthless on your own and need someone else to 'save' you or 'give' you life
I always think if Christians could love themselves
then they wouldnt so automatically think that no one else loves them either unless it was the god that they are trained to allow love from
atheists dont live in the same fears of hell and damnation and needing to be saved so they have a far different more "Natural" state of mind

I'm sorry that some people treat you badly. Something is seriously wrong with them. And even though I don't beleive in the concept of God anymore, I still cannot bring myself to be bitter and rude. That is just wrong in everyone's book. I am doing my best to treat people the way I want to be treated.

You're sure right on that one, dear man! For the past couple of days, one of them has been hounding me in email, trying to convince me that I should accept the fact that she believes in several other gods! When I tried to tell her there is only one God and that my faith in Him is unshakable, she didn't let that stop her from continuing to harass.
I think they're so unsure of themselves and so afraid they are wrong (which they certainly are), that they want to take as many down with them as they can!
God bless you!
