I have severe pain in my groin area. I am also feeling like i'm going to throw up. I am presently taking percocet for the pain but the pain seems to be worse. Does anyone have any ideas to help control the pain (heat, cold). I don't want to go to the ER because they get rid of the pain for a bit when i go there but it always comes back. I have an ultrasound tomorrow and I have been referred to a local surgeon.

severe pain can sometimes cause nausea or it could be related to the percocet (i can't take percocet b/c it makes me throw up every single time). the drug is sometimes too strong for the stomach to handle. make sure you are taking it with a full glass of water or food (this will make it easier for the stomach to digest the medicine)
you can try using a heating pad (don't apply directly to the skin) for 10-15 mins at a time to ease the pain.
don't take any other pain medication combined with the percocet-you put yourself at risk for overdose if you do. the er was probably giving you a stronger narcotic (like morphine) and that's why the pain lessened for a while.
if the pain becomes unbearable to where you can't sit,stand, or walk-then i would head back into the er.

This sounds serious, I'm glad you're having an ultrasound tomorrow.
When you take your meds, try taking them with hot herbal tea, they'll work faster & last longer. And you might try some Tums or Rolaids for the nausea. It may be caused by the Percocet, it's one of the side effects of that medication.
