I just think that as a global society we have reached a level of true freedom of thought. We don't just randomly accept what is force fed 2 us by our communities and heritage. I'm raising my own children 2 question everything and 2 never just take something 4 granted, I believe what makes sense 2 me at any given time and am not stagnant in my beliefs, I am constantly evolving and I don't judge. The truth is I doubt whether religion will have a role in future societies, all it has done is seperate and divide mankind. We've been told 4 2 many generations that the end is near or Jesus is about 2 return etc etc....... maybe its about time womankind /mankind stood up and took responsibilty 4 our actions and just got on with the job of fixing this messed up world. I don't know about u but I'm sick of standing on the side lines with my fingers crossed waiting 4 a miracle.Lets just dam well get on with it................

Merrywhiterose, atheism is a religion like transparent is a colour. I do indeed see an increase in the number of atheists in this section.
Steve N, seeing as how you're a Level 6 on here, the hypocrisy in that statement is truly astonishing.

"Has there been a big increase in Atheists here on R&S or am I wrong?"
Yes, i do hope so. As more and more people see the falicy in religion then the tides of change will come and wash away this medievil practice we call cristianity / islam etc...
"is there hope for humanity after all?????" - Yes, i believe there is hope, that man kind can free himself from the need to cling to illogical "holy" books and imaginary "gods"

In here yes. But as for the rest of humanity don't kid yourself. Not everyone on this earth comes to yahoo answers let alone R&S.

We accumulate here. It is a haven for us, try saying anything that we write here out in those Christian and Muslim countries in public and see what happens.

"is there hope for humanity after all?"
I'd like to think so.
Are their more atheists on R&S?
I'd like to think so.
But we still have a long way to go; mono-theists (xians and muzlims - the Jews don't count cos they're almost as apathetic than Australians) still out-number us at least five to one.
We still have a long way to go.
Keep the faith *chuckle*.

you are not imagining, however, before you add as contacts, check out their profiles, because this is a new trick some folks are doing to get into "real" atheists accounts.

Nope, it just depends on the day! All hope is in God. Only he can bring the whole world together in Peace. I hope he will bless your heart with peace. You will feel so much better. As far as your not believing he exists all I can say is this.
Let God judge between me and thee and judge us all according to our deeds! Peace to you and much love!
